Crow V.4.2

bingo....comparing the two isn't right and doesn't help anyone eat crow.

tjack is a guy we moved up in the draft to take hoping he would be the future qb of our team.

frerotte is a guy we picked up to help mentor tjack and a capable guy to come in and keep us in the hunt if needed.

tjacks qb rating was as stated 59 and 73.3 and we lost both games...being whatever the case is, coming off injury, his son, his confidence, the pressure, coaching and owner paranoia, maybe he just wasn't ready at the time.

gus got the call, stepped up and did exactly what his job description is as a back up qb....he came in and won us games...we went 7-3 with gus and he kept us in the hunt.

would we or wouldn't we make the playoffs with tjack being the starter the whole time we'll never know....but we do know gus came in and did his job.

gus became the starter...we all know gus is not the answer or future of the team but was doing his job as being a quality back up....tjack then went to being the backup.

gus went down and tjack got the call and stepped back in and has been playing much better then in the past...good enough to keep the starting job and the hopes up for people that he is the future of the team....is he totally there yet no....can he get there...maybe.

hopefully so...then we don't have to spend a bunch of money on a qb when we thought he was worth moving up in the draft to get as the future.

our team could get much better if we could take that money and put it elsewhere to help out on some of the veterans we are gonna lose soon.

See, T-Jacks ratings were poor, thanks for pointing that out.

And, he lost both games.

No problem pointing out the fact that T-Jack is a better all around QB then Gus I won't say we told you so but......

And for clarification T-Jack didn't LOSE either game ...the team did and if you want to blame one indiviual blame Shanco for dropping the winning TD pass from T-Jack. How about the special teams maybe?

Gus was brought in and, even though he is NOT a good QB, he won games and opened the playbook more than "I only see one receiver" T-Jack.

T-Jack must have learned on the bench and in practice, for he is better now (it appears).

I don't recall Gus winning any game's throwing more Interceptions then TD's could you provide a link or data to back up the claim that Gus won games? Or did you mean the Vikings won games with the best running game and better defenses in the league?

It's all good if you guys want to believe T-Jack magically transformed into a better QB then the Highschool tag you guys laid on him while sitting on the bench for 10 weeks rather then an Owner "ZIG" trying to get a new stadium pannicking while listening to complaining fans being the reason T-Jack was replaced thats cool with me...it's just football right?.... grin

Skoal VIKES......

as long as I can remember, with the exception of Cunningham in 98, viking fans just love to bash the QB.

I say this only half tongue in cheek, but AP still isn't holding on to the ball but there isn't a line calling for Taylor to become the starting RB, though I haven't looked at each thread here in football.

A week for Jim Johnson to prep for our offense, either QB is in for a long day IMO.

actually there was people wanting to bench AP for taylor..even after the first fumble two weeks ago...i can just imagine what they were thinking after he fumbled early last week lol.

right after that he busted the big run that was probably the biggest reason we won the game....maybe i need to make an eat crow thread for it!!

I guess we both feel like we are beating a dead horse...but these posts are so funny.

Say no to crow.

You don't get what I am saying. I am NOT comparing the two QBs. Is T-Jack better...yes. Has T-Jack proven he is the king of all QBs? Heck no!

Gus did his job and did it well for a back-up QB. T-Jack was NOT doing his job as a starter...now he is. Call it magic or what-not, I don't care. I think the whole team is just playing better now.

Throw all the stats and what-not at me...it won't matter. I am just glad we had Gus to lead this team to a winning record this year. No, it wasn't all him...but he was part of it. Just like the first two losses were not all T-Jacks's fault. A desparate change was needed to try to save the season, and it worked. Like it or not, IT WORKED!

Every year in MN, it is the same thing. 1) Who is the most popular player on the team? The backup QB 2) Who is the least popular? The coach. Year after year it is the same thing. Enough already!!

dig it up and show us where people actually wanted to bench AP for Taylor. I definately want them to use taylor more, but in no way stated to bench AP.

He's proven to be the best RB in the league, you don't bench him for fumbles. I don't like them, but he carries the rock a ton. I'll trade a few fumbles for 3000 yards in two years.

I found this a bit interesting.

AP has fumbled on average every 40 carries.

Frank Gore (1/40 carries), Steven Jackson (1/50), Larry Johnson (1/38.6), Julius Jones (1/39.5, Maurice Jones Drew (1/49) and Ricky Williams (1/40) have comparable stats.

u can go dig it up if you want...good place to start would be the vikes vs falcon thread or the tjack nfc player of the week thread...i don't even recall any posts by you but you seem to take it personally so maybe you posted.

you'll find people saying bench, pull, sit, AP...to teach him a lesson lol...even pull him after the first fumble against the falcons...even peoples wives wanted him benched and the husband agreed lol.

everyone complains when chester gets more touches then peterson...now peterson gets more touches and happens to drop a few and people want to complain that chester needs more touches.

chester is a good player forsure and makes some big plays but don't be confused that the extra rest and AP breaking down defenses with his hard hitting running style doesn't help set all that up.

AP still has to work on his patience and vision a bit imo..but he's a star player and should get as many touches as we can give him....chester is more patient and lets holes open up then hits them which throws off defenses that have been getting to the holes as fast as they can to stop petersons full bore ahead style all game.

just last season i remember running chester down on goaline quite a bit and he coughed a few up and everyone was wondering why we would ever give chester the ball down there when we have AP...all season in tight games when chester is out there every play on the final drives everyone is complaining why don't we have our star player out there that can break the big ones.

i like both players alot but you'll never hear things like bench, pull or sit AP comin from me...EVER.

2nd year player that won the rushing title and would of won it his rookie year if we used him a bit more...broke the all time single game rushing record his rookie year...all his stats are comparable or better then the biggest names in football history up to this point....that guy would never take a seat on my bench if i was coach...maybe for a drive or a few plays to clear his mind and not want to come back right away and make up for it and possibly make another mistake trying to hard....but thats AP anyway, he's gonna come back and try to do that no matter what...you could sit him for a month and he's gonna try to come back and make up for it...he's a warrior.

i look to see what AP is doing on every play on offense and i look to see what jared is doing every play on defense...jared is a warrior too...good teams need guys like these...they can take a game over single handed.

If anyone is wondering, I was one of those who said to give Peterson a break and let Taylor get a few more carries. Bench him, give him a break, call it what you want, but Taylor has done some good things with the ball in his hands lately.

I too think Taylor should be getting a few more touches per game. It will lighten the load from AP, and it will mix the defense up some to keep them on their toes. Taylor is an awsome back, and if we cant give him the carries he deserves he is going to want to move elsewhere!

he gets almost a 1/3 of the carries and over double of the receptions...thats pretty nice for being the backup imo.

i wouldn't mind if he got a few more carries and peterson got a few more catches...when we finally do a swing pass or a screen it's almost always to taylor...which is fine cause he does good with them but we need to find ways to get peterson into open space...we haven't really got to see that very much at all.

using him on screens and such works great, but he has power and can go up the middle and speed to bring it outside. they have a great duo in the backfield and if the coaches could manage it a little better, they could really confuse the other defenses. right now they do little to confuse the other teams.

With Peterson's gimpy leg Taylor is probably going to get more touches on Sunday.

A co-worker was at the game last week and after Peterson's record solidifying fumble, the crowd was blood thirsty and wanted him on the bench. But, in typical MN fan "what have you done for me lately" fashion, after he ran for the long TD they were all lovey-dovey again. Awwwww.

Fickle.

lol...taylor will never get more touches then peterson unless he gets reinjured...he hurt his ankle against ARI..he says it's the best it's felt since then...close to 100%.

you are definatly right about the typical MN fan though....glad not all of us are typical.

He was limping in the last game so it definitely isn't 100% or close to it. If he can't make his cuts they may have to mix in more Taylor, not to mention they seem to pass to Taylor more and that's a part of the game that the Vikes need to go to more anyway.

With Chilly being a great offensive mind I don't know why they don't run the screen more like they do in Philly when he was coaching there. Westbrook gets more than a fair share of passes and it seems to work for them. Peterson rarely is put out into the flat or gets a chance to run a screen. You would think with his ability to avoid tackles that a screen play more than once a game would be a big addition to the offense, especially when you have a mediocre QB like T-Jack. wink

well peterson says the ankle feels pretty good and he's participating in individual workouts so i'll take his word for it...no one is probably close to 100% this deep into the season.

the problem with a peterson screen or swing pass is we always first fake the handoff to him...that is the most retarded play calls i've ever seen...lets pretend to give it to the guy that the whole defense is watching then try to pass it to him a few seconds later.

if we had peterson and taylor on the field at the same time no one would know who would be getting the ball...chilly can't figure that one out yet though give him a few more years.
