Jason Mitchell Combo's

Recommended Posts

We all know the quality of Jason's rods and how affordable they are for the fisherperson.

Now Jason has released his new line of combo's. I had a chance to use one of them with these new reels. They are a 3 ball bearing reel and are as smooth as a Tica from what I can tell. The drag is also very smooth. If your a serious pro to a beginner, these Mitchell rods and combo's will fill the bill. A very good, high quality rod and real for a combo price of $48.95.

Thats a very good price for this combo set up. From the panfish rods to the laker rods, Jason has a rod to take care of all your fishing needs.

All of my Jason Mitchell rods are first class. I cannot wait to get on the pannies with that panfish combo!! My main concern with a reel is always the drag system. And from what I have been told the Jason Mitchell Combo reels have a drag system that will please me. I can't wait to try!!!

I am the same with you.. Drags on reels, especially those that are seated onto combos these days, seem to be mediocre at best.

Not anymore though.. I have been really giving these reels a workout here on my waters. From Trout to Walleyes to Perch and Bluegills. The reels perform flawlessly in all weather conditions. Great reel to make for a killer combo that a person can buy off the shelf..

Thanks guys, I currently have a Meatstick and LOVE it! I really like the tip action combined with a nice backbone. Trouble is the kids won't let me use it since it became their new favorite rod. smirk So now I'm debating on whether to get the pannie combo or another Meat. Tough decision! crazy

I know, I should probably just get both.

I got my hands on a JM Perch 26" rod the other day, great potential for an all around rod right there, anything from 'gills to crappies, perch, or walleyes would be in trouble with this rod!

I have yet to use a Meatstick but I am excited to after hearing all the good things about them!

I've got a couple Meatsticks and a couple Spring Bobber rods and use them a lot, in a lot of different situations, like finesse jigging small plastics for panfish, deadsticking waxies for panfish, and deadsticking minnows for perch and walleyes and saugers. I'm also a big fan of the Perch rod, it's my favorite jigging rod to use for perch and walleyes on Mille Lacs, Winnie and Lake Of The Woods.

Jason Mitchell Rod co warrants his rods against any defects in materials for one year from the date of purchase. If the rod is defective, Jason will stand behind his product.

When you purchase your Mitchell rod, there will be a small warranty card wrapped around the cork handle. Make sure you fill that out and send it in.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
