Keeping eura larva alive

Is it possible to keep them alive more then a few days if so ho do you do it ive tried everything thanks

Yep, I buy a thousand at a time. Keep them in a very cool fridge. Just take out when you are going to use for the day. They don't like drastic temp changes so going out in the cold, then in a warm house and then back to cold again does them no good.

As stated, keep them in the fridge. Also, change the sawdust every week or so. That helps a lot, too.

I've kept them alive in my fridge for weeks in my bait puck. When you take them out they arent too lively but once they get in the warmth of your shack they start moving pretty good.

I have had three cans of them in my fridge for 3 weks now and they are still movin after they are out for a little while in the warmer air.

yep fridge slows the growth process, its even what the breeders do and they send them out in a cooler

Mine do fine for a month or more in the fridge. I've had trouble with the colored ones not lasting though, so I stick with the white ones.

i order them a thousand at a time as well- i order them from an online maggot store, not sure if i can mention the name, and recieve them within a day or two... i then split the thousand maggot package into about three or four seperate ziploc bags. i did this for the first time last year and they lasted from the beggining of the season, about early december, all the way through february. i bought them again this year, and so far, so good. they come in a nice styrofoam case and i just leave the seperate ziploc bags in case in the back of the fridge. also, i only take maggots out of one bag at a time until the bag is empty. it's really nice to only have to grab bait from the fridge when i want to fish, instead of running to the bait store...

Put them into the zip lock baggies to avoid them cocooning that is the biggest issue. they need the air.

I bring mine to the bar with us once a week and feed them hot chicken wings and beer (they really like that)c63

I look for larger dead fish in the summer, lots of free bait. Feed them fish guts in the winter. The wife will love ya for it in the basement.

I also put mine in the fridge in my bait puck but I wrap them in a little rag or towel. Has worked for many years.

Gotta keep em cool, but dont let them freeze! If you keep them cool they will live, never let them get warm. But just as important, dont leave them in your fishhouse when you leave, dropping below freezing is just as bad as letting them get warm.

Don't leave them in your car overnight. Too cold. Mine are hard and chilly

yup fridge is way to cold. I usually just leave them in my coat pocket, and I put my coat in the entry way. they do fine there

Wrap a rag or hand towel around your puck or container and they will be fine.
