What kind of reel did you get? I keep hearing Okuma for a price point reel. Might have to try one of those next year.

I didn't get anything exciting except for some bucktail making tools and materials. Tied my first one already. - Cant wait to throw them now. Gotta find some open water somewhere. Who's got an indoor pool?

I thought of the river, but would that be breaking the rules since there are actually muskies in there? I'm sure a couple casts wouldn't hurt anything but with my luck I'd probably get a ticket or something.

What if there are no hooks on your lures? Otherwise you could hit up the miss at pool 2 (i think) where it's open year round for sport fish, just catch and release only.

Not all sport fish as far as I know. Pike and Muskie seasons do close. That rule I think only applies to bass walleye and sauger.

muskies are open till march on MN/WS border waters shocked... and there is no law against testing lures. only intentionally fishing for a species outside the open season on them.

If I put a couple treble hooks on the lump of coal I got, do you think it'll catch muskies???

maybe, being coal it's probly black laugh ... that's a start.

or send it to me and i'll chip, sand, saw and grind it into something that any fish will laugh at... er ... bite grin

Anyone ever use a Water Moccasin?

Yep, great WTD bait that has really good quality componants and has a nice action in the water. Made by Musky Safari. No hook ups for me but I havn't thrown it much at all. I know a guy that swears by his. It doesn't seem like a typical search WTD (because of the size) but i'm sure it's good when you have fish located. You'll like it

Santa didnt think I needed any more after my splurge in 2008... but few relatives disagreed with that...

I got a Lil Eagletail and Mepps Comet 5 Shad bucktail from an uncle and a giftcard from my parents for D!ck's Sports which I redeemed for a Bullfrog Topraider...

No confidence in the Mepps Comet 5 so will exchange it for something I will definitely use and have confidence in...

Like every year i recieved two different thorne bros gift cert. can't go wrong with those thats for sure.

I thought gift giving was over but yesterday i was surprised with a custom spinning rod from rods by engel! It is the sweetest looking rod with my name on it aswell. I can't decide if i should use it or frame it!

Just a great gesture from one veteran to another! I was wounded in 2005 and i'm still amazed by the sincere gratitude that was/is shown to all of us!

Thank you!

Scott did you have your hand in this?

Rod Engel rods have served me well and you'll enjoy his craftsmanship. I've purchased close to a dozen custom rods from Mr. Engel. It's like Christmas when I receive one and open it for the first time. Quality workmanship from a great guy.
