American Idol **Official Thread**

Ladies and Gentlemen of America, congratulations on voting for the next Taylor Hicks! Boy did America screw the pooch on this one. I would wager a weeks salary, maybe more, that Adam will outsell Kris by at least two to one in their music careers. Right on observation that Adam will not have to record that lame song for his first song out of the gate. Adam meet Chris Daughtry....Kris meet Taylor Hicks. So what play do you think we will see Kris in within a year and a half of getting dumped by his label? Les Miserables maybe!!!

I enjoyed the turn of events, I am sure Adam thought he had it all wrapped up. Would have liked to know what was inside his head when they announced Kris's name. Mooooohaha

Plain and simple, america blew it. Sure Kris will make some money but Adam will clearly blow him away. Kris is a boring singer, has no originality. Adam got hosed but he will get his in the end. The sky is the limit. Did you notice that Simon seemed kind of [PoorWordUsage] when they announced it. The other three stood up and cheered while he just sat that. I'm sure he was thinking dang america is a bunch of idiots. Just like when America picked Rueben over Clay Aiken.....

Paceman, Don't forget Taylor Hicks! Another of the sappy dull boring middle of the road singers that America laps up like a dog at the food dish, only to get bored with them in a year. Hicks had his label dump him in a year and he is now doing cameo spots on a traveling musical edition of Grease. I don't think his total sales of albums even reaches one weeks worth of Chris Daughtry's. Just shows the power of the 13 year old girls in America and their texting fingers!

I was definatly not a fan of Adams as I always thought he was over theatrical and his screams annoyed me...

However, anyone else think that he would do well as a lead singer for Queen?

It was a good fit. I liked Queen back in the day and Freddie Mercury was also very Over the top and theatrical.

They sure trotted out the has-beens last night.....Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie, Cyndi Lauper, Queen, KISS, Queen Latifa, and Steve Martin? Rod Stewart looked drunk and Lauper had some sort of epileptic attack towards the end of her song. The performances were pretty weak across the board. The Urban duet was about the only one that had some semblance of chemistry between the two performers.

I admit I'm a casual viewer of Idol, but the final handful of contestants were not that great, IMO, compared to other seasons. The final straw was when Adam butchered the Johnny Cash song. His shrieking every night was hardly a great vocal performance as everyone raved about. He may have been one of the best if it was 20 years ago and the show was titled "American Idol - Hair Band Edition". The dude that won reminded me of a knock-off of last year's Bob Marley wanna-be that everyone thought was good. I didn't hear him belt out any songs to show he was a true singer either.

I guess it has to be remembered that this isn't a talent contest anymore, but mostly a popularity contest looking for ratings to sell more Ford vehicles. Last night seemed like more of a gong show than anything.

I said that at the beginning of the show. Looked at my wife and was like, you think Adam will sing with Queen tonight?
Was a good match up. i really wouldnt mind seeing that happen.

And for all you guys thinking the teenage girls with cell phones were who got Kris in.... Let me just say....

My Daughter and all of her friends voted for Adam. Cuz he had good hair and was "hawt" lol....oh and he can sing ok too *rolls eyes*

I was going for Kris, but I am a huge John mayer fan and love that kind of sound.

Well Rod Stewert is 65 years old and has been treated for Thyroid cancer. Im guessing he hasnt been doing a whole lot of concerts lately.

Cyndi Lauper was always weird..But calling KISS a "has been"...Ouch that broke my heart. lol

I thought the Cyndi Lauper performance was really good, I've always liked that song. Kiss was awesome out side of Adam screeching and ruining it in parts. The queen performance was really good. Those are the ones I really enjoyed anyway.

Kudos to both for a fine finish, Deitz said some right on stuff about the final show, it was AWESOME, and I totally agree with his comment about Kris and Jason Mraz, those two together could be great!!!!! Adam could go on tour with Queen and make a gazillion, Cyndi Lauper and Alison was right on cool as well. Rod Stewart amazed me, he is incredible in concert and was glad to see he didn't tank which I was scared of, his voice is faded, but still got some magic to it. The Black Eyed Peas are pure energy, the show was great!

On the male side of things, HELLO to 3 who were YOWZA HOT on the show.... Bikini girl, nice purchase..... Kara Dioguardi, wear a bikini while judging and sing more often, her voice is incredible. And lastly, that pink outfit, Megan Joy wore was, well, I rewound a couple times to watch again!!!!!!

Congrats Kris, give me a Mrazzie type funk acoustic and let me call you the next Curbside Prophet!!!!

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS OVER.....NEW AMERICAN IDOL CONTROVERSY!

New evidence pin-points AT&T as the culprit behind Kris Allen's 'American Idol' victory, N.Y. Times reports. During the final performances, the mobile company provided phones for Kris Allen fans to cast blocks of votes. There appear to have been no similar efforts to provide this service to supporters of runner-up Adam Lambert.

Last week, AT&T representatives, whose mobile phone network is the only one that can be used to cast 'Idol' votes, provided the free services at two parties in Arkansas after the final performance episode. During the event, the representatives provided instructions on how to send "power texts," which send 10 or more text messages at one time. According to sources, the power texts have an "exponentially greater effect on voting than do single text messages or calls to the show's toll-free phone lines."

Skip over this content Officials of Fox Broadcasting declined to comment. In a statement issued Tuesday, a spokesman for AT&T said, "In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested."

According to the NY Times, the show broadcasts an on-screen statement at the end of each episode warning that blocks of votes cast using "technical enhancements" that unfairly influence the outcome of voting can be thrown out.

It's been like that for a while though. All the home towns of these kids get together and pound the lines to get their kid through. Fair or not, you can text as many times or call as many times as you want

You are carefully avoiding the fact that this was an organized thing by AT&T. It was not just teen aged girls pounding away on their parents cell phones. It was AT&T soliciting, instructing and paying for people to send these "power texts" only for Kris and not for Adam, and they even provided the phones to do it! I would hope that Adam has cancelled any products he has thru AT&T because they have made it clear that they chose Kris over him. I would also hope he never does any endorsements for them and I hope he goes out of his way to endorse their competition, just like they did to him. This was held in Ark which is Kris's home state and nowhere else. Sounds like somebody bought a candidate to me!

yeah, but it also says a small number of LOCAL employee's brought out some demo phones. How many demo's do you likely think they had??? Make it what you want, but regardless, I could do this at home or post to my 700 facebook friends to do the same. Not a big secret or anything.
