...I see Jake got clean again, but wonder how long that can last on the crab.

"Fool me up to 7 times, shame on you. Fool me 8 or more times, shame on me."

Crab fishing and assorted drugs seem to be the norm according to Edgar. I don't know how a person could do a 36 hour stint without some sort of chemically-assisted stimulant, even though they are highly frowned upon by the law. There's only so much that cigarettes and Red Bull can do for a guy.

I don't know what to think of that Steve guy. It's entirely up to how they edit the show. If someone filmed me around my house for a month, you could edit it to make me look like a complete DB. Edit it another way and I might look like a genius, well, umm, maybe not that.

I was shocked that Edgar left the boat, I thought he would stick through Opies. Matt looked better than I thought he would, but think once the season wears on he and Jake will be at each others throats and no Edgar to ref it.

Hoping the best for CM and the boys, pulling for Josh, unfortunately I think Jake will relapse once again. I caught that too that Steve was gone.

Looks like that storm shown last night was slammin' the guys around pretty good. Part of the fun of the show for me is watching these guys go through all of this pain while I'm sitting on my leather recliner with a beer and a blanket. Just did not look fun to be fishing out there.

Good point, but then the processors have to send people home or lose money. So they don't have a lot options either. Plus it sounded like from the After the Catch show that there were lots of storms in the Opie season, so you never know what's coming next.

That after the catch was intense between Capt Derrick and Josh Harris, WOW. The only piece I didn't like was the producer intervening and talking like a shrink, not only during the after the catch part but with the 28 yo crab captain, I could see why that capt would be POd at him.

The storm footage was wild, i enjoyed it from the comforts of my couch too. Not only deal through that storm but then pound off tens of tons of ice.

"I'm gonna knock you out".

Ha. Where did Johnathan go during that segment? Did he figure that he couldn't handle listening to Derrick so he left? I would have liked to have seen that. smile

Ouch, catching that hook right in the nose looked pretty brutal. Nick's a tough dude to be right back out on deck with his nose in the shape of a "C".

Prospecting pots, who needs those? I sometimes wonder who really calls the shots. Does the TV program prompt them to do things differently at times for the added TV value? Probably not, but I wonder sometimes.

Nick is a tough dude alright, that was a sick shape to his nose!

I agree with you on producer input, I wonder too if there isn't a lot of stuff they want the captains to say, or the capt says something and they say 'can you say this...' instead of what the original statement was

Next show the CM will prolly start pulling big numbers from adjacent pots. Adds to the drama. Did you see under the description of the show it said the CM captain was courting mutiny? Haha, come on now.

Wierd how some of those strings are blanks, and then one is 550 like the Seabrooke at the end.

Keith must really be high on himself. Roll your eyes at him and almost get yourself fired. Dude needs to chill a little bit. I like the atmosphere on boats like Time Bandit and Northwestern so much more.

Couple things...

Jake and the NW- that kid is more of a whipped-pup mascot than a deck hand. He is often portrayed as such, complaining about the lack of respect from a 50 yr old grizzled veteran. At 27, he is no Edgar, and has not yet earned a reputation that commands respect, no matter what little duties Sig throws his way.

Nick is a friggin monster, working through that broken shnozz. Looking forward to seeing him after a year of healing.

I love Freddie's screen time. I would watch a show consisting of simply a camera following him around on a day to day basis in the off season.

One thing I pulled from the CM, Jake and Josh are just now getting some fishing advice for the boat they own? Why didn't Phil do any of that when he was in the chair? They were his sons, for God's sake, and he had plenty of indicators that his time in that chair was short. I actually felt sorry for those kids when their new captain was giving some captaining lessons to them. When was the last time that both those kids were in the wheelhouse either not getting yelled at or worrying about their dad's health? I can't think of a single time. That's a lesson for all Dad's out there: teach while you can.
