Yepper... FINALLY got the 2008 monkey off my danged back... Hit Bald Eagle at about 3pm with Huey...

Hit the island... several boats there... told Huey I'd like to come back to the island and try topwaters...

but we decided to hit a secondary spot... come to think of it... I originally thought to leave my Weagle home...

then decided to bring it anyways... turns out at about 4pm, the conditions was PERFECT for topwaters...

calm lake... none to little wind... sun was low... turns out the moon was rising at the same time...

snapped on the Cash Weagle... 20-25 mins later... she hit... nice swirl and nice fight...

Huey did an excellent job netting her... Thanks, Huey, for a beautiful afternoon!!!

My first topwater fish... and my new personal best... a 44"...

Reb-

Congrats on your 44! laugh It was great to see you catch it.

You picked a location and presentation that I didn't really consider. It was cool to see that pattern succeed. It taught me something new about fall fishing. Thanks.

Huey- partial credit also goes to gut feeling!!! Like I said, everything was perfect... and frequenting this forum to pick on the minds of the experienced guys helps... along with faithfully getting Musky Hunter magazine helps too...

I do remember someone (I think it was Mike Hulbert)talking about topwaters... and he would mention several times about how topwaters can be deadly at any times as long you recognize the conditions and things should just fall into place... and that secondary spot... just looked sweet on the map... thus, taking RK's advice... if that spot looks good to you, HIT it... along with CJAC's frequent mentioning of secondary spots... theres a good reason why CJAC has more muskies under his belt compared to me laugh

Was hoping for you to catch one too... but some other times... its your turn... thanks again!!!

She's a beaut Reb. Great color and markings on her. Isn't that just the greatest feeling in the world? Didn't think I was going to get the monkey off my back at all this year, toughest year of fishing in a LONG time. This fall has been great though.

Hiya -

Woo! Congrats. Very Cool. Beautiful fish too - wow. Those spots are something.

Great that you got it on a topwater besides. That's about as fun as it gets. Too many guys put the toppies away when the water gets cold.

Now go get another one smile

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

Bret... Oh yeah... the sweetest feeling!!! We'll see how the fall season goes when Im gonna go out this weekend... French on Saturday and one of the Metro Lakes on Sunday... see how it goes...

Hanson- Thanks... Lets keep the streak alive...

Luke... thanks!!! This seems to be the year of Weagles... last year it was the year of the Cowgirls... Whats next year???

JRedig... I know too bad it wasnt on pink... Everytime Luke had pink weagle... it was already sold before I could inquire Luke about it... just my luck... LOL... Maybe in 2009...

Hunter... Im definitely looking forward to that for 2009... Rmemeber... I still have those two books I borrowed from your dad...

RK...Hopefully I'll catch some more this weekend... after all... Im at a point where its easier to break my personal best... LOL... Just need more time on the water!!!

Reb, it sure took you long enough, but I say better to catch 'em at the end than at the beginning. On second thought, better to catch 'em all the way through. Very happy for you, I know you've had a tough year with the boat being out of commision. Only bad part about it is I was kind of looking forward to you shaving your head bald (if you didn't get one this year). I'd do it anyway, I think you'll catch more smile

Thanks Box, Rinc, and Boy46... Im glad too! laugh

Keith... You know how bad my luck was this year... even we got skunked on French... Still feel bad about that... and still want to hit French w/ u and Hunter again and kick her butt next time around... I know... you're not the only one hoping I'd go zero this year and go bald... Notice that I didnt even do my hair the way I usually do... maybe thats the thing... *shrugs*

Luke Breyer... care to elaborate on Propster's theory... whether going bald helps with more catches??? whistle

Larry -

Nice work. I got your text a bit late - my phone died cause I took a header into the slop with the cell phone while duck hunting.

That's a pretty fish. I was shooting ducks out there yesterday and kept telling my brother I should have been hurling a bait in between the decoys.

take care - erik
