Best Week of the Year Just Got Better

I've hunted a private ranch in the So. Dak. Black Hills for about 30 years now. Archery deer, lots of turkeys and a great trout stream right behind camp. We get to bring all the toys. This has always been the best week of the year for me.

While chatting with the rancher last night, he mentioned we will have someone else hunting the same time. Usually, when we are there he doesn't allow other hunters on the property. He said he would do his best to keep us seperated.

Initially I was a bit sad about this news till he told me it was a local kid just returning from Iraq. I immediately told he "don't seperate us, send him over. I'll help him out as much as I can."

I'm now looking fwd. to "haveing to share" my spot. In fact I couldn't be more proud to be able to help this returning hero.

Our hunt starts next Friday, Oct. 17th. I'll be sure to put in a full report with photos on my return.

Never know, the young vet may even be able to show an old dog some new tricks, as he is a local. Sounds like a great week in the outdoors to me. Whitetails/mulies? Have fun be safe.
