wildcatcreek
Don't personally eat carp, just fun as heck to catch.

Carp-fisher
I eat carp as long as they come out of clean clear water. My wife and thus mother-in-law are Chinese, and my inlaws love carp. My mother-in-law will take a whole (scaled and gutted) carp, 2lbs or less, and she'll make some sort of spicy red sauce tofu dish out of the whole thing. Its actually really good, and I guess its an expensive dish overseas. Next time I should take a picture of the dish and post it up--looks like something from the FoodChannel... Muddog
I was out today looking for some big Crappies when I ran into this gentleman from Henderson. As we talked he stuck this egg laden sow. The best I can say is it's over 25lbs and almost as as wide as she was thick. We found them spawning later in the day.

tjbassmaster
Here is the biggest of the 9 me and my friend caught today. Icefishing's carp makes it look like a minnow though.

Dicktanner
Those are some pretty big carp. Anyone have any photos of any Bowfins(dogfish)? If you hook into one of those they put up a pretty good fight.

broodwich
Dtanner: should have took a photo of your bowfin... would have made some of these carp look small...

macgruber
great fish all..... i'm a big fan of sampling the water for whatever may lie beneath the surface....hey tippman...... how bout a metro creek? by the park benches i'd say minneapolis, and the trail and houses look a tad like minnehaha..... whether it is or not, i've pulled a little of everything out of there this year on the long rod, though i'm sadly deficient in my computer skills (and a tad bit lazy) so i don't know how to post pics..... got a few pics of silver redhorse and one of a bowfin i'll try and post..... bowfin put up a great fight.... sighted two musky there earlier this year-- one over 50-- neither would give me the time of day, despite bouncing huge streamers off their heads for about 10 mins...... and i've been taken to school by numerous carp (drag is broken on my reel and trying to palm the reel on carp doesn't really work all that well-- almost broke my thumb on one)...... it is an improvement from last year where try as i might, i couldn't get 'em to take.... switched from buggers to nymphs (thanks for the detailed reports, Deadhead) and that seemed to be the ticket..... it's kind of funny-- i have no problem with 20 lb. king salmon but a ten pound carp eats up my reel every time....i'll see if i can't figure out the pic posting..... Dicktanner
Went out fishing with fellow fisherman Broodwich on Sunday, as we were fishing some slop I saw a very decent sized fish follow my frog like 2 times but never got a clean swipe at it. A few casts later tried the same spot to see if I could get it to bite again, sure enough I had a wake following behind to different times, then broodwich casted out and had the same thing happen, only to have it hit and break his line. It was about a 6 to 7 pound bowfin. just thought Id share that.
