Columbia Rain Gear

Looking into some new raingear and the Columbia Canyon Creek style is in my price range. Has anyone owned this type of rain gear? I also saw a Stearns jacket at Wlmrt for 20bucks less that almost seemed like the same jacket. Would the extra $$ for Columbia be better in the long run. I'd just wear it occasionally when fishing in the rain and out n about.

I stated in a similar topic about raingear that I use a Gamehide Typhoon for cooler weather, but I own Columbia light rain gear as well and it suits me just fine. It depends what your use will be and in what conditions. During the heat of summer, I use the lighter gear, but make sure is has a wicking lining, the plastic type backing gets really sticky if you know what I mean.

I've got a columbia jacket and like it a lot. No complaints and the price range was right too.

One problem with Wlamat (I can't even type the name without turning blue) is that they private label so much stuff and squeeze the manufacturers so hard that you can't really count on the quality. You're not going to be spending a fortune so perhaps it doesn't make a difference. For me, I try to not even drive past the place.

Quite the comments about walmart...that is just a@#anine!! Many of the same reputable brand names are sold at all the big stores for more money! And i agree with their return policy! As far as columbia rain gear..I have a set of the light weight stuff muc mentioned...goin on six seasons now. Paid 35 bucks for the set. very durable...great rainsuit!

I really like goretex. I lived in mine for a week in quetico last spring. Much more comfortable than the pvc stuff.
