Even though I didn't really pick up on the sport till Tony's rookie year, I've always liked seeing some "Back in the Day" footage.

Yarborough

Kulwicki

Petty

Junior Johnson

Even DW

All those guys. But #3 will always be in a class by himself.

Same as many others, The Intimidator has always been and will always be my favorite driver. Nobody can compare IMO. For many years, my dad tried to keep the same stash Dale had and looked a lot like him. He even had to get the Ray Ban Aviator glasses. I guess it runs in my blood to be a #3 fan. I skipped classes in college to stay home and watch the funeral on TV.

Richard Petty, David Pearson, Darrel Waltrip, Dale Sr., Benny Parsons, Cale Yarborough, a couple Allisons and Jeff Gordon, all in their absolute prime form and all on the track against each other. Now THAT would be a race...

Boy Tom thats a good question.

I always wondered about Adam Petty and if he could have helped Petty turn things around.

Nascar needs someone that is out spoken and respected by both drivers and Nascar. There seems to be a lack of respect from the driver towards each other and Nascar really does'nt have a driver they can go to to get the right feed back.

I think Stewart could be the guy but he comes off more as he is complaining to Nascar more then trying to help.

The other drivers don't know where they stand with the guy because one day he saying one thing and the next he is doing the other.

(Sorry I hijacked this thread)

I know he was'nt the greatest driver but I wonder what Steve Park would have done before the wreck messed him up.

And as mentioned above some of the older great ones in there prime would be great to see back.

Amen to that group!!!! I'd probably even throw Tim Richmond in there too, although I don't think he was quite to their level.

When he was sober,he gave Senior and everybody all they could handle for sure for those couple of years.

Sifty, you really hit the nail here. This is a wide open topic though, Here is 3 more names that come to me: Kenny Irwin Jr. Ernie Irvan, and Davey Allison. These guys also had there career cut short with bad accidents. I am sure there are many more names to add to this list that I may have missed.
