Cooter
Does anyone know if Rapala manufactures the blanks used for their fishing rods or if they are made by another company?
blueroof
Rapala does not manufacture the blanks. They are manufactured for Rapala to spec by another company.LB
Deitz Dittrich
Coots, to be very honest with you.. very few companies make their own blanks.. I forget the number, but I want to say there are only like 3-4 rod building plants in the world.. all are bought from them..
T-water
If your up in park Falls WI it's a fun time to check out the St. croix factory. Depending on when you get there you can get some good deals. 4 years ago I bought a $250 rod for $80 or $90. Still haven't figured out why it was considered a second!Anyway they have windows so you can watch th rods being made, pretty cool.
Cooter
Thanks, I'm curious because the rod is very impressive for what I paid for it...if I could figure out exactly which blank it was I'd like to either have a custom made or try making one myself. LoonASea
I own several of the rapala rods ,,,for the price they are good rods (Gander has the sportsmans on sale this week) all but the steelhead rods are one piece and seem to be quite sensitive ,,,I certainly have no complaints
jwhjr
One of my favorite ice rods is a Rapala. I've had good luck with it.
mtheis
At Gander Mountain a couple yrs. ago they had a few Tournament Class Rapala rods for under $20.00. What a deal! I should of bought more of those as well. Some of the best rods I ever had at any price!
mr walleye
I think but am not 100% sure the blanks are made by Pure Fishing(Berkley) But don't quote me on it.
Bobb-o
Good to hear more people are finding out how great these rods actually are, they are the only rods i have used for both ice fishing and open water of at least 6 years now.
JohnMickish
I'm glad you guys like them too because pretty soon I'm going to be selling a few of mine. This past fall I got to buy out an entire supply of rapala stuff from one of the guys that works at Rapala and now I have way to many rods. Keep your eye in the for sale forum in a week or two. 8-Ball
I bought the lower end Rapala spinning combos (2) a few years ago- one M action and one UL. Somehow, both snapped on me the same day. I was not a happy camper and let Rapala know about it. Within a week, they sent me two M spinning rods Tournament Classic. I have been really impressed w/ their sensitivity as other here have said-not to mention that I was impressed that the company upgraded obviously the two rods they sent me from what I had purchased previously.. I highly recommend them.
