Mickey Mouse Boots?

Deodorant is just what the name says. Antiperspirant(sp?) has a chemical that stops one from sweating. I think that it's aluminum zerconium and sometimes aluminum oxide or sulphide(not 100% on the 2nd two). There is a product called clearsol that one can get a pres. for and after a couple of weeks use a person will not sweat at all in the location applied.

I know that the "original" military issue mickeys there is a difference between the white and black ones. I believe they made three diff grades of boots. The white were the thickest and warmest. I have both and have never had cold feet in either. We were at an army/nave store one time an the guy had the toes cut off a few differnt boots to shot the differnt grades....

I stand corrected. After speaking with a US Army quartermaster he said the White Mickeys are rated for deeper cold then the black. I often thought the white looked a bit bulker then the Black Mickeys of the same size, so I guess they are. They both will serve you well. Buy a larger size black and add more wool, you will be set.

I got the black (White on back order until Dec.24th)already on order because I "heard" that the two were the same. I guess that explains the difference in the price. I will try them out and see if they will be warm enough if not I will return them, not a big deal. At least we have the info now and we know that there is a difference. Fish On

I got another pair of the black ones too about 3 years years ago. I think only twice my feet got real cold and that was while snowmobiling in some very cold weather.
Like I said before once they are cold we just stopped at a bar or (conveince store for any matter) and dumbed warm water in the boot to warm it up! Then let it sit for a minute and dump and dry it out. And for the rest of the trip me feet were finally nice and toasty!
I would say that is the best feature about these boots that no other boot has!

The air valve is there to open up when airborne to equal the pressure in the boot. Since these boots have the bladder they will expand when air pressure decreases, so your size 12 boot would be a size 10 at higher elevations. Under normal conditions you'd leave the valve closed.

The air valve is really not for allowing the user to fill the inside bladders with air.

It's primary purpose is for the elimination of excessive pressure when on a airplane transport during troop movements.

You make sure the valves are open when at altitude or the increased pressure will burst the internal air bladders (BOOM). When not in the air they should be kept closed and deflated to keep moisture out of the internal insulation system.

Some knock-off Mickey style boot add the valve just to look like the real M-GI Mickey. These do not have internal bladders at all, just a "phych job" pulled on the buyer.

The French Military Mickey boot may or may not have air valves, they also are white. The Soviet version is a very good sub zero boot but extremely hard to find.

Right now the Canadian military are testing a new boot system called the CADPAT cold/wet weather boot. From what I see, I would like a crack at testing them out myself.

Never haveing "wings" "pinned" to my chest, I always assumed. You know they used to smash the pins right into your meat when recieving jump wings. shocked.gif What I assumed was the airborne left the valves open to give thier ankles flexibility when landing in a DZ, or something like that. I always blew mine up when wearing them. The air pockets warmed them,I thought. That pressure thing makes sense though.

hey all

I've had a pair if the black ones for almost 20 yrs. and my feet have never got cold---even fishing in 30+ below, 60+ below wind chill---yes Eddy I'm originally from ND. I usually wear a pair of thick wool socks just for cushion but probably adds to the warmth. Before owning these boots I was never able to keep my feet warm--tried the electric socks and everything.

I gotta jump in here and maybe get some feed back as I really don't know. After thinking about how wet my packs got I started to think no way is that all sweat. My theory is that it is condensation from moisture in the air. I have had my liners freeze to the bottom of my packs in extreem weather and had dry cotton crew sox.

I have gone to 1000 gram thinsulate cordura/gortex with a special insole. This combo breathes and no condensation. These have worked for me and you don't feel like your feet are clubs

Eh..Bigminnow..."Psssst"...here is a secret..don't tell anyone..OK.

The smaller mens sizes are dirt cheap, often $20 or more less. I often see them for $29 a pair at Sportsman's Guide, so check in there first.

So here is the plan.

Get the wife a pair of them for $29 for Christmas, heck toss in a pair of socks too...(your a nice guy right).

THEN....leave that Cabela's catalog laying around with the $250 pair of Mickeys in it...be sure to circle the ad too...in RED.

Now..Ya seeeeee...you can pocket the extra cash...seeeeeee....and have more "Fishing Toy" funds.......all for yourself....huh...huh...not bad.

Diabolical...Eh, ya got to love it!

I found a date on mine and it was inside the boot. It said 1972. How many people wore these. They look new though. Sportsmans has them that`s where I got mine. They had a promo so I got the white ones(some sizes are on back order) for $63 shipped to my door. You have to be a club member. Fish On

I think my boots say something like 1975 or some were in there and have a serial # on it too.

So what do they really do to refurbish these boots?

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
