st croix legend

I just bought a st.croix legend and i'm wondering what kind of reel i should put on it and also what kind of line to use.

Im looking for strong line that will pull in a nice northern but also not be to big that crappies won't bit on it.

I got the walleye rod and put a light action spring on it

Ive been using 4lb fireline crystal on mine with a 6lb florocarbon leader. You could use different size leaders or skip it all together. Ive caught plenty of bass, pike and walleye without problems.

tica sb500 or ss500 and spool with 4lb p-line flouro ice good all round combo......

I'd go with the Okuma Epixior 500 or 750. I find the drag to be a little better than the tica reels.

Ozzie's got it down and I would put the medium spring on it for the 1/16 oz and lighter jigs or the medium-heavy for 1/8 oz and lighter jigs.

I have a legend rod and love it i put a cetus reel on mine and have been very happy with it.

I think the Cetus and Tica are the same thing... I've used a couple of them and still do. I have one on my crappie rod and like it a lot. The size of the reel should jive with the strength of your line, and both should be in line with the action of your rod. Lots to think about... Good luck

I have been very happy with all of my Tica Cetus reels. I also purchased an ABU-100c this past fall for ice fishing and this reel seems to do a very nice job with a fine drag. I have also used and own many Okuma reels and can say nothing bad about them.

I have 2 ticas, a symetre 750 and a catylyst, i'm not sure on the size but it's the smallest made. I always reach for the symetre first, I've had it for 4 years now and it has been through alot of abuse, drag still works great. Earlier this year I caught a 12lb pike on 4lb line, about a 20 minute battle, and it performed flawlessly. I don't particularly like the catylyst for fishing outside cuz it seems to freeze up real easy, in the house it works great. The ticas are pretty good for the money. The do seem to twist up the line real easy due to the small spool

Cabelas fish eagle ul. Have two of them, super smooth drag. Have caught 7-14lb northerns on 2-4lb test and haven't been broke off yet. They are on legend rods too. Very reasonable at $30.
