Dubleaa
Love the look of the cedar but isn't that going to add a [PoorWordUsage] load of weight to the rig?

deadminnowcatcher
no, the cedar is very light and thin. I would be srrprised if it weighed much more than paneling

mediocrates67
deadminnow, where are you at on costs so far? do you mind giving us a run down on everything to date? i'm especially curious on the spray foam, both underside and walls.pics look great, cedar will be very nice. crank that heater up and turn it into a sauna! something tells me that would be a funny story about a dnr officer walking into a steamy house with half-naked sweaty men. deadminnowcatcher
The spray foam cost 1,000 total. 250 for the floor and 750 for the rest. not sure what i have spent total so far but i have saved all my reciepts and will be adding it up soon. I think i am around 4500 so far.

Hope to get drawn again this year, and see that house up there. I am also hoping to have ours done in time for Ripley. Have fun. Be safe..

HOGEYE
When you had the floor sprayed, Did you cover it when done or is the foam exposed to the elements below? I have an ice-castle without an insulated floor and was thinking of getting it sprayed.
deadminnowcatcher
It is exposed underneath to the elements- have seen others like this- with no issues
perchlips
What company did your spray foam?ThanksPerchlips
deadminnowcatcher
H.I.S. Foam in mankato did the spray foam. There are companies all over the state that do this- just look in yellow pages or online and you will find them. It is expensive but well worth it in my opinion
castmaster
Didnt want ot read through all 32 pages so some may already have suggested these things. When I finally get around to building one next fall these are some of the things I plan on doing. No V-Nose, 8x22. The house will be 8x18, and then have a 4' area in front of the house to haul a 4 wheeler or a portable. Rails on both sides and in front, like whats on an atv trailer, with passenger side being removable for loading of atv. Then over the top of that I will build a small area for storage or an "over cab" type bed like whats in a pickup camper or small motorhomes. I feel it will tow better with the weight of the 4 wheeler up at the tongue instead of doing the double door deal and having that weight at the rear of the trailer. Also leaves a cleaner inside and easier to seal up and keep warm/cool.Then I will be using a small bathroom unit like what in pickup campers or small motorhomes. The ones that are like a closet and the whole bathroom is the shower surround. Trailer will be custom built to hold black & gray water holding tanks as well as a fresh water tank.Going to go the forced air furnace route as it gives better heat and circulation than a wall mount heater. Also going to add roof mount vents and ac unit.Lights & buzzers at each hole. Also ram mount balls and 12 volt hook ups on main holes for vexilars. (I plan on running 4 or 6 main holes and then a couple others in awkward locations that can have rattle reels down) 1 hole in center of house for aqua vu camera to go down, and will wire for a second tv to view camera on. Main tv will be wired for satellite hook up.Going to use a dinnette/bed for one bed, and then run 2 fold down bunks, and a 4th bench seat/bunk across the back of house.(will probably eliminate 1 of the fold down bunks I find there is enough room to build the over cab bed).If I do the bed over the 4 wheeler then I'll put the bench seat/bed up against the front wall, be easier to go over that to get to upper bed. Then Dinette/Bed against back wall. Fold down bunk(s) on side wall or over Dinette depending on space. Then Kitchen along one of the side walls(most likely the one without the entry door)As you can tell I plan on using it as a year round fishhouse/camper. Fall hunting trips, summer fishing trips etc. Because of that I am probably sacrificing some fishing space but gaining in creature comfort. I also find when ice fishing we mostly use the wheel houses as base camp and end up fishing out of the portables much of the time anyway. Figure as long as theres 1 good hole for each guy inside and then a couple rattle reel holes as well I'm happy.
