What about Phil dozing off at the wheel? I wonder how often that happens with the marathon schedules they keep? I know they have someone on board that can relieve them for rest, but with how competitive and money driven those guys are I'm sure they push the limit all the time. I guess Phil crashed from one too many Red Bulls...

does anyone know how deep they crab fish?

i have heard on DC they said 300 feet, i was watching

a different progam on crab fishing and they said 600

feet.

i believe ther fishing on the average around 425!

BNS is correct, that's the average I've heard they fish on. Could be anywhere from 2 to 6 hundred feet for the critters.

I think you are right about the average death but i think i depends on the season. You hear Sig talk about everyone driving over fish thats because everyone is fishing more shallow this year. One caption said he has never seen king crab up this shallow before. Im not sure on depth, just dropping in on the chat.

I think you guys are right about 180 meters i found was average so you guys are right on

Shallow for them could be 200 feet though if you average 425.

Is it just me, or is there a lot more emphasis being put on the crab counts and for getting fined due to overharvesting? I've got to beleive there is a better way than a visual count to do this. Even baseball umps have a better system for balls and strikes! New one on tonight!!!

I guess you can look at it like fishing limits, if you catch 7 eyes instead of 6 and get caught you gonna get fined, thats the way i look at it

Does anyone know how they estimate their pounds of crab on the boat just by counting them?

I think it's average wait per crab.

Yea it does seem like they are making the crab count a big deal but you know what IT IS!!! There is a lot of money on the line and they need to know where they are sitting from pot to pot.
