-31 this morning. -16 for the high. Talking with my dad & mother and they used to walk to school everyday. Dad walked a little over 2 miles. Ma walked a little over 1 mile but a lot of times the neighbor boys had a buggy and they rode together. One of the boys at dad’s school had to be there early to fire up the stove and got a whopping .75 cents a week. Should have asked dad what years that was but he’s only 93 years young.
