Rattlin Varmits are basically the same as buckshots, although there are some nice colors in the Rattlin Varmits. Angel

Eyes have some nice colors and nice flutter to them too. One of my favorites is the hammered gold Angel Eye.

There has been some discussion about this recently in the Walleye Forum, things like favorite baits and how to target fish, etc.

1/8 ounce and 1/4 ounce chartruese glow buck shots with 4 # test have out produced all others for me in clear water. reds in darker water. with only minnow heads. sure wish I could find a stash of old Ivan's crushers somewhere though. next best is the rattl'in varmit in perch for sure. The dead stick has to be #6 red gama and split shot w/ shiner. jig like you mean it.

My go to jigging setup is 6lb dia Power Pro Ice, Tica reel and a Glow Red Angel Eye - ususally the first thing in the water when I fishing for walleye.

My dead stick setup is a little more straightforward - A Thorne Bros deadstick, Tica Reel, 5lb dia Power Pro Ice and a small gold kahle hook - around a size 8 with a couple split shot above to keep the minnow from swimming too far & to get the line down faster. All of these balanced on a deadstick holder - in my case a Rockn Reel, but a Rod Rocker or Rod Rocker 2 would also do the trick.

I have tried all kinds of different deadstick jigs / hooks and 85% of the time the small kahle hook is what puts the most fish on the ice for me from a deadstick.

Good luck!
