Quite the post going on here. I guess I can add my bio to the growing list.

OK here we go...

My name is Scott VanGuilder, 50 years old. Current job is a Network Engineer for the hospital in Hibbing. I have also worked as Machinist and a was a Production Manager in a knitting mill in Superior WI. Spent a couple years trying to be a REALTOR, but I realized I am a lousy salesman.

Born and raised in Duluth, moved to Chisholm in "99" to take the job at the hospital. Believe me if you weren't born here you are always gonna be a packsacker/outsider. The upnorth handle came from the move further north.

Graduated from Denfeld High School in "75", got a diploma from Duluth Area Vo Tech for Machine Tool Technology in "79", and got a AAS from Wisconsin Indian Head Technical College in "99" in Computer Information Systems, and finally a diploma for Cisco Networking Academy from Hibbing Community College in "01".

Married my wife Julie in "76" (yep that woman has put up with me for a long time \:o ) We have 2 kids, both grown and gone, Amy in Henderson NV, and Alan in Buffalo WI, 2 cute Granddaughters(who we don't get to see near often enough). And there is Maya Bleu, a Siberian Husky, who is probably one of the biggest babies you will ever see.

Hobbies and activities. I love fishing for Walleyes, Crappies, Trout, Steelhead, Salmon, Smallmouth, and will not complain too much about northern, blue gills etc. We have an older motor home and we love camping out there in the boonies preferably where there are no such things as hookups and concrete pull through campsites, but will suffer through a State Park. I enjoy Hiking and so does Maya Bleu, and Julie will suffer through a hike with us on occasion. I was an absolute fanatic about Mountain Biking when we lived in Duluth and that has slowly wound down since we moved up here(no one to bike with) spent a lot of time biking around the trails on Spirit Mountain and Jay Cooke State park. I also enjoy Building Custom Fishing rods, I posted some of the stuff I did in the rod building forum. custom rods I also have spent some time teaching a few others rod building to get started on the hobby/addiction crazy.gif kinda like Frito Lays chips, you can't build just one. I am not much of a hunter, but I will do some bird hunting when I can find someone to go with.

So there it is... I will add some photos later when I can spend some time on the home computer where all the photos are.

I was in Bismarck from 1980 through 1986. I worked full time at Rod's Family Foods on Broadway near the hospitals while I went to Mary. I think the building is now part of the Bank of North Dakota. Loved the town, but I had minor surgery that came with major (at the time) bills. By then, the family moved from Cooperstown to Pelican Rapids and I moved "home" to right my financial ship.

Reelemin-Have done the bash last couple of years- its a great time and you get to put faces with names. Burntside is one of those lakes we consider close enough to go to for a day trip but always try to make it a 3 day trip.Me & my fishin buddy will be there on the 14th. to get our last lake trout fix, unless we go cross the border before ice off. I'll have to check my fishin fund after next weekend to see whats left, gas prices kinda beat up my minnow money.

Hi my name is Hope, I am 37 and still looking for Mr right. I have been fishing since I could hold a pole. I am a staffing professional for a company that has been around for 22 years. My family has a cabin on Long Lake in Park Rapids and I get up there as much as I can during the summer. My nephew and I went ice fishing a few times this winter and I was hoping to get out a few more times but messed up my thumb when I fell on the ice and am now in a cast. I am always looking for people to go fishing with. I do not own a boat so I do a lot of shore fishing here in the cities. I have 8 nieces and nephews ranging from 1 to 24 years of age. I am glad to have found this HSOforum to learn from and hopefully share fishing stories.
