Hi! I’m Heather. This thread has motivated me to create a profile and post. I have been following this site for a little over a year now. It’s exciting to see more women posting here. I just had to be part of it.

I like to hunt, fish, XC ski, and basically do anything that gets me outdoors. Currently living and working on the gunflint trail, although my life is pretty fluid and who knows how long I’ll be here or where I’ll be next. I do know that my heart lies in the northwoods . In between fishing and XC skiing this winter you’ll find me knitting up a storm, mentoring a 2nd grader in Grand Marais, acting as a first responder for the Gunflint fire dept, or sitting in my current EMT class in Grand Portage.

I grew up around hunting and fishing but really didn’t take an interest in it until college, and then I was hooked. This winter I caught my first lake trout and this summer I want to catch a monster walleye! Here are a couple of fish I am real proud of, including my first ever laker!! (some of you may have already seen it posted in the bwca, ely forum by another fmer)

Welcome to the family, Heather... In no time, you'll be addicted like all of us!

Nice muskie... how big was she?

Reelin... look at the tail... its pointed... so my best guess would be that its a barred-phase purebred Muskie... its all good...

Jenna: I couldn't help but notice your post about the smallies and your user name! That's awesome very cool! If you want any advice on bass tournaments let me know. [email protected] is my email.

Hey Everybody,

My name is Cory Putnam 26 years old grew up and still live in the Alexandria area, Love it! This site is awesome, I couldnt help but notice Jenna's post about the Smallmouth. I'm an abosolute smallmouth nut 100% addicted to them.

I really like fishing any species but my passison always leads me to the brown ones. Am an avid bow hutner/ rooster hunter during the turn of the seasons.

I fish alot of local bass tournaments in addition I have enjoyed fishing the Silverado Pro/AM bass tournaments the past few years.

I work in the automotvie industry selling equipment mainly California, and Texas. I used to do a lot guiding prior to this job.Now I mainly just guide clients from my career which it pays better anyway.

1st open water trip about 6 weeks away chasing smallmouth in South Dakota, then again in May for a friends bachelor party we will be staying at the same place.

welcome Smallie to the cool forum cool.gif

I have fallen in love fishing for bass from my kayak. Lg mouth on few good bass lakes here in the cities and smallies up north by my cabin in Grand Marais. What a riot catching bass from a yak, you never know where you'll end up crazy.gif I had one bucket mouth - only about 17 in. - but that sucker pulled me 20 yards into shore by the time I got it in the boat !! \:D

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
