Those MarCum Folks are really on the Ball. Same deal with ordering them online here ( http://outdoorprostore.com ).

Order early enough at OutdoorProStore.com and MarCum ships out to you same day.

I'm very happy with their customer service as well.

I spoke with John at MarCum yesterday after the monitor on my underwater camera went out after being on the lake for 35 minutes.

He asked me how far I was from the store I purchased it and when I told him about 10 miles he replied, "Exchange it and get back out on the ice."

I was pretty upset when it went out on the lake, but it's nice to talk to someone that understands what customers want and why they purchased the products to begin with.

I'm hoping the montior going out was a fluke, but at least I have the piece of mind that if something goes wrong MarCum will stand behind their products.

Last year i had the camera head go out on my Marcum 560, I thought great the camera is 3 years old how much is this fancy camera gonna cost me. I was in the Brainerd area fishing when it happened so i got the # for marcum and called them. They were very courtious and helpful. The shop that works on them was in Brainerd and they allowed me to take it to them. Found out it was happening to alot of them. The good thing was they covered it all under warenty, the bad thing was the camera heads were on backorder. They shipped it to me free of charge. The service people in Brainerd were great very nice and helpful. Now i have a problem of my camera turning on by itself lets hope they are as good with that. Hats off to the Marcum crew for a great product and even better customer service. cool.gif

Great folks. My camera head got water in it and I called to find out how to get it fixed. The tech dude told me to very carefully check the cable for cuts. Sure enuf, about 6 ft from the head was a cut. they shortened up the cable, and sent it back in about a week, no charge.

Not to rain in on the parade, but..

I agree, marcum does have great service but.. Just about everyone I know has had a problem with their marcum. Sure they get them fixed but......

My marcum LX3 intially had a problem with the gain. I had to set it really high just to see my lure. When I sent it in, I also had them do the color upgrade. They fixed my problem, did the color upgrade, and I had my unit back in about a week or so. Of course, I waited till after the ice fishing season.. I mean, who wants to be without their flasher for a week! This past winter was my first winter with the true color upgrade.

Well, this year.. First time out, the flasher is making a ton of noise (sound and screen display) when I first turned it on. It did go away after about 10 minutes of it being on. Not sure if it's going to nag me all winter or not.. I guess I'll see next time I turn it on.

You know now that I think of it, I havnt heard much about Vexilar.. Complaints or great customer service.. *shrugs*

Hey Kyler,

I bet it is your brushes. My lx5 was doing the same. I sent it in this summer (Fedex Ground from White Bear to Anoka was $6 - sent it on Tuesday it was back to me by Thursday).

They were fast. so far this season it is working great again. Good luck.

Another thing that I feel people should know about the Marcum people...

I teach at a local high school and contacted them ( and one other local fishing equipment dealer) about coming and speaking to my kids. They were the only ones to respond, and they are coming for a whole school day to talk about the business side of fishing...and we are going to have a little product demonstratioin on a nearby lake!

I really appreciate their willingness...and my kids are pumped.

Glad to hear it Luck e, though I'm not surprised. They're all top-notch guys who are very personable, which can be the exception to the rule in some parts of the fishing industry.

I think much of it stems from being a local company with products made here, as well as being somewhat of a new kid on the block compared to some of the competition. They highly value each and every-one of their customers, and are willing to do anything within their power to make a happy customer. Just so happens that they're industry leaders in on-ice technology; not a bad combination!

    • Sorry to hear that Duff. Will give my GSP's an extra scratch behind the ear for you guys today
    • Aw, man, sorry to hear that.  Shed some tears and remember her well.  They all take a piece of our hearts with them; some more than others.
    • yes sorry for your loss..  our dogs are always special...
    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
