DARTER
A friend of mine told me about his co worker catching a near record muskie on lake mille lacs. Just found the interview on minnesota bound. Check it out. What a fish!

muskiedreams
thought you were talking about hammernick his client got a 55"/27" on saturday some beasts in there!!!
Fishing_High
Wow what a monster it's to bad it couldn't be revived. That's crazy that his fishing partner owns the state record Tiger Muskie! There's some luck in that boat.
MJBo
That is the Hammernick guided fish. That thing is almost scary.
musky_tail05
I think this one and the Hammernick fish are different. I saw the pictures of the Hammernick fish on a different site, they were caught by two different guys I believe. Still.... that's just scary big. MJBo
I coulda swore it was the same. Are you talking about the M1st site? Thats where I saw it and the guy mentions he was guided by Hammernick. I can't believe two 55 by 27s were caught on the same lake in the same weekend.
musky_tail05
Yup, I saw it on the M1st site. The thing that's odd is the guy's name that caught the one on M1st is Troy. While this guy's name is Joe. I dunno....perhaps someone can clear this up? That would be insane if practically two identical fish were caught on the same lake, same weekend. SJonesi
In fact there were 2 fish of the same dimensions caught on the Pond last Saturday. Both caught on big rubber, one South and one North.I received phone calls from a couple of really excited individuals(Jason and Josh).Very tough fishin' right now, but the rewards can be incredible. Oh, and there are too many boats on the rocks.LOL. Steve
cjac
Almost is a relative term here....keep in mind these two were still about 4 lbs shy of the state record. That's roughly 7.5%, think of your boss giving you a 7.5% raise, and you'll realize it's a pretty significant jump. Amazing fish though, think about how big a 25lber is, and they are only 1/2 way to these!! These fish have the "beer Belly", not quite like the head to tail, consistent, thick mass of Jody Dahm's fish from last year. Dahm's fish had a smaller looking head like the Hamernick one from this weekend, I really wonder what that Dahm fish measures out at right about now, a year later....... The release photo of that fish looked like you could have walked right down the lentgh of it, just like a log.Chris
JRedig
Awesome, too bad the one isn't still swimming, but that's part of this whole game. I'm not that suprised that two big fish came out of that lake in the fall on the same day, especially considering the size of the lake. I'd imagine there are more than a couple caught every year that nobody know's about...

Brett Waldera
Three big fish on the Pond last Weekend. My fishing partner Jeff Anderson boated a 54.5 x 27 on Sat too. I don't know how to post a photo here though.Brett Waldera
Hoffer
Truly awesome fish - just think one more inch in length and 1 more inch in girth would have done it! next year that would have been the new record fish. I also really like the markings on that fish - it seems that sometimes when you get those real big muskies they kind of lose some of those spots and markings - and that fish is well marked all the way up to the head - Nice! Muskiefool
Very sad, it'll only cost the anglers of the state $3-7000.00 and 25 years to replace her, this lake has been harvested very heavily this year it seems, as one friend of mine said "The lake will never see it's true potential and it will be our fault"

Yes, there have been some big fish taken from the lake this year, this fish in particular, the angler attempted to revive it. A good majority of the people fishing the lake will always attempt to revive the fish they catch, but some just can't swim away. And there are a few people who don't fish for muskies or fish often at all who happen to catch a big fish. They might keep it, but I really don't see it hurting the population of fish in that lake. Now if everyone was up there cathing skies and keeping their daily limit (1) the way they try to do for walleyes, we might be looking at a different scenario. He tried to revive it and it died. It's a part of fishing. It happens.
MuskyBrian
I think the only thing that is "sad" is how the internet is now a bash campaign. There seems to be nothing a person can do right anymore...It sounds like the guy made an effort, as if catching a fish of that size is easy to handle and release? gimme a break, Congrats to the angler

Annoys me when people tell others what to do with their fish. Sweet fish by the way
