No Roll sinkers

Cabela's should have them. Gander should to. Well maybe not Gander - dunno. Mr. Special gets them from catfishconnection (Contact Us Please) com. But it's a bulk type order - still not that much for all that weight.

I just got some no-rolls at gander last week. They have'em, depending on what gander you go to but just ask were their catfish section is and they should be there.

The Gander here in Mankato is a joke.

I'm sorry but Gander Mt., Cabelas, Sportsman's Warehouse will NOT be getting any of my catfishing money. What a joke!

I do agree with the big chain store's unwillingness to help the "cat fisherman", but in the NW metro it is all we got. Even the local bait shop (As great as she is) is very little help in the equipment area.

I have to use all three stores you mentioned, just to get certain items to stock up. I have learned not to ask the store clerks about cat fishing. If you do, they seem to give you this look of disgust and then confusion. It’s a joke! One place is way over priced, the next does not have all of what you need and then the next is just full of plain stupid people. Then you bring wall fart into the mix and ahh ehh!

This has been an issue for years and I do not see it changing soon. I figure this is a one of many small reason's why cat fisherman are some of the smartest fisherman out their. You have to improvise much harder to get to point B than other game fish fisherman grin.gif

I would say, as over priced as they are but Cabela’a has made the most forward movement in cat fishing tackle. At least the one in Rogers has a good sized wall dedicated to cat fishing tackle in the live bait area. It sure is out of the way of the other fishing stuff and the staff does not know a thing about any of it, but it is their (illegal items for this state and all). I believe they have jug fishing equipment and snap lines for tree branches. What the “f”. I still hate going into this store and avoid it all together, but it is a start.

If I am in the city, Moore’s would be the first stop, but it is far and few lately I have been around their.

As for the cheapest 4oz no rolls, I stated it earlier. I have learned to just get in and out, also to buy in bulk to avoid going back soon.

Good luck!!!!

I wish I had more options up this way, but Cabela's in EGF is it! I honestly can't tell you one other spot with a decent cat tackle selection. Sheels has no-rolls, but they are really spendy (Just under $1.00 a piece)... Why do they cost so much more than other sinkers of the same weight?

This might sound dumb coming from a CatGuy, but what is so great about no-roll sinkers? I have heard people talking about them, have seen them in the stores, but have never used any! I usually use the "bank" type sinkers and don't have many issues with getting hung up or anything, so what is better about the flat sinker? What does it do that's better?

Thanks for any info and replies...

I believe that since there flat, there is less roll on the bottom of the river in current. They should hold better than others. I do know that many use the bank type sinkers also but I personally have only used the no-roll.

My personal opinion is that they are overrated. I never have had problems with good old bank sinkers, they are cheaper and if it doesn't hold I put a bigger one on.

If there is one advantage to me it would be actually when they are out of the water in the rod holder. They don't bang around as much and fit nicer next to the pole. Just don't travel down the road using no rolls and your pole in a vertical rod holder. They act as sail and will start spinning to the point that they snap your line and end up up at the back of the boat, or worse in the windshield of the vehicle behind you.
