Is the show accurate or are they embellishing it quite a bit.

Having grown up around 3 generations of truckers, 4 in my 1st relations and many more through connections, this show is really fun to watch for me. I got my commercial license when I was 18 and have kept it in force since then. I'd also like to hear anyfishwilldo's stories related to the extreme conditions.

IMHO, the characters they are tracing are pretty true to the guys I hung around, just a bit more talkative and cheerful. I learned to cuss, chew tobacco, tell a joke, turn a wrench, and grease a truck chassis while lying on my back in gear oil in truck shops - just like the second show displays when Polarbear's transmission bites the dust.

After seeing two shows, I have a fascination with three things: Going "Four wheeling" with a loaded rig like they do over the Charlie's Hill portage; the constant mehcanical battle with the cold and freezing water in air lines, and the process of ice road construction - resorters could learn a thing or two to make their roads even better, like using the tornado pumps in ice holes to flood the surface between snowbanks and to smooth out the ruts and depressions.

Be sure to be careful the pulling your tip ups in the ice might be awfull thin. I think I would wear a PFD just to be safe.

I agree - how could you not think about ice fishing driving across the ice for days on end. Neat show

However I would like to see the discovery channel version of this show. I am guessing that would be a little more informational - but I guess Ice Road Truckers makes for good TV

I would honestly think that after doing this for tooo long you wouldn't want to set foot on the ice.....let alone fish on it....
