Who's ready for the REAL opener?!?!?!

Hiya -

I have kind of a dilemma this weekend. Bass opener, and turkey hunting... Not quite sure how I'm going to manage both, but I bet I'll figure out something.

I'm not half ready though - still have stuff all over the place in my office/work room down the basement that I need to organize before this weekend. Can't wait though.

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

I will be out at 6:00 am on my favorite lake up north. My son will be in the front of the boat, outfishing me as usual, and I can't imagine a happier place. I will be pretty much worthless at work for the remainder of the week thinking about it.

I'll be on a river fishing for smallies as the sun thinks about coming up. I don't have much time on Saturday because it is our 23rd wedding anniversary and if I want a 24th I have to make it short. Hopefully I can find a football or two in a couple of hours.

I'm limited even more by my daughter's HS graduation - the in-laws and outlaws start coming to town Sunday and won't be gone until Thursday. Even the weekend after is tied up because of her "Open House".

The things we do for love....

I probably don't have it as bad as some since I had a week of bass fishing in Missouri about a month ago and then a couple of Pool 2 adventures where we caught a fair amount of both SM and LM....

Daze Off

I am ready. I am stuck going to the Whitefish chain with the wife and her family this weekend. There will be jet skies, cigar boats and waterskiers all over my Walleye spots tongue.gif. So its all Bass fishin for me. I plan on having a bunch of rods rigged and ready to go. Spinner bait, Buzzbait, plastic worm, frog, crankbait and floating rapala all set. Best of all, I'll be controlling the boat via hand with my new Copilot grin.gif I think it will take slow presentations with the expected cold front, but hopefully the cold can cut down on all the abnoxious activities up there. If every one was smart enough to fish there would be no need for big loud boats, jet skies, ect..

I agree to a point, but for someone my age, 24, all those loud boats and jet skies are usually loaded with ladies! tongue.gif

Fishing for walleye during Memorial, 4th of July, and Labor Day just doesn't work on the Chain. Go during the week and the place is pretty dead and great for hitting those open water spots. I'll be on the chain bass fishing all weekend! I really hope this cold front doesn't ruin the fishing.

I'm not certain if I'm glad or sad that our season is open 24/7/365.........The anticipation of an opener doesn't exist. Our tournament season begins in late March. The question becomes, does a guy want to chase green ones or brown ones.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
