Real cute - just swallowed an air rifle pellet

Cooter

Recommended Posts

Doing a little varmint control with the air rifle yesterday, had a couple pellets in my pocket. So today like usual I have my vitamins and fish oil and such in my pocket, after breakfast I grab them, dump them all in my mouth and down the hatch they do. I feel something else in my pocket and here's a pellet - well I know there were at least 3 in my pocket last night! crazy.gif Guess I got my daily dose of lead today... tongue.gif

We need a medical forum.

Quite seriously, you should think about calling a doc regarding that. I'm not sure what levels of lead are toxic or damaging for humans, but ingestion I'm sure is not preferred! smile.gif

One thing for sure. "Get the lead out" may take on a whole new meaning from now on. grin.gif

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

'edit'

I suppose now there'll be a push to ban lead BBs due to human ingestion.

It wasn't a BB but a pellet - I called a nurse and she said not to worry, should pass through. I'm like, pass through where? shocked.gifblush.gif Certainly one of my more impressive manuevers.

Yes be sure to inspect your stools thoroughly, all of them.

Use a container or a porta potty till they are gone so you dont forget and end up flushing them.

The real danger is if they somehow dissolve by stomach acid, then the lead can enter the blood stream.

I would try to be sure they have exited in whole condition, and then have a blood test for lead. If they have not exited or been found after 7 days, I would have the blood test done anyway.

.177 pellets are pretty small, .22 are quite a bit larger, which was it??

Last year, Minnesota Department of Health and various news agencies reported the death of a child in Minnesota, by ingestion of a small heart shaped lead charm.

The charm was only about the size of a few lead pellets, and was largely intact when removed. I guess he did'nt have enough beers to laugh it off...

I'm in the have a few beers and forget it mindset although it is in the back of my head. That was my concern, what if it dissolves in my stomach and ends up in my organs and blood frown.gif It was a .177 size pellet BTW. Not sure if I'm ready to dump in a container and inspect crazy.gif

Did you try your gag reflexes to bring it back out? grin.gif

I know someone who injested a small lead BB (without knowing it) from eating grouse this past fall, and they had an X-Ray for some reason and found the BB inside. All I recall is they were concerned it had not passed thru and they were monitoring it.

Good luck with that Cooter.

Cause of death was lead poisoning?

Yes,the cause of death was lead poisoning, a four year old boy. The lead charm did not pass and enough of it dissolved to poison him. The doctors had seen it in an X-ray but mistook it for a heart shaped temperature monitor they had placed on him. They did not know that he had swallowed it, only that he was ill and getting worse.

There's a lot of fertile ground (pun intended) for jokes about shot patterning, chokes, effective range and shooting with both eyes open... But I ain't going there. grin.gif

I think you need to rush down to the grocery store and buy a dozen ears of sweet corn and eat them all for supper. I guarantee you that everything in your colon will be cleared out in 12 hours!!! Works for me anyway!!!

If you are concerned I would get it checked out by a doctor. Either it will be no concern at all or it will make you really sick not much gray area, its probably better to make sure that it really is no concern. Piece of mind will always make you feel better.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
