I fished Kewaunee last weekend. We did alright each day and had one great day with multiple fish over 20 lbs. Only had one come on a spoon all the others were on tinsel flies. I would love to get back out there but it will be at least a few weeks.

Val, I might be there then if I can swing the off time. I met Cheffrey out there this weekend and they were catching a few in between rounds at the pizza bowl. We filled out for 3 guys and fished Friday morning and this morning. Went 15/27 this a.m. but it was wild from 345 till 530 with multiple doubles.

Ooohh...shut up ! Now I really cannot wait for this. I already ordered new line for the reels, got my Penn bases coming, I need to find another Mag 10 Cannon to match mine. All my lures are still good, but I will visit the hardware store there to get the latest. I still have to come up with a canvas for my top and rig some rocket launchers. I have slip 3 at Captain K, will be in a white Dodge ram with a Palomino camper on it

REEL CRANKY, a silver and burgundy Lund Sport Cabin 22ft with 2 Penn and 2 Cannon riggers.

I will try to convince Rick to sell cheap some huge FM decals to put on the side, it's good advertising, better than Google when in Algoma.... grin.gif

Gentlemen, we have had some of the most productive fishing out here that I have had in the past 5 years. Daily limits for 5 people on 3 boats over the weekend. Spent our first day shaking out bad line, bad rigs and donating a shot rod to Lake Michigan. We have had 11 people leave from our crew with their limits and are currrently working on 15 more limits for the remainder here. Our best night we ran 12 miles North and set up in 90 FOW, we went 19 for 40+ on the Ballz Draggin with almost everything on Lead and Dipseys. We have caught some of the biggest Coho's I have ever seen with landing 6 over 7lbs yesterday. So far biggest fish for the week was a 18LB 37" King full of pee and vinegar. Flies and Flashers from Opti in the Blue Halo and Mountain Dew colors are the most productive on our boat. With little spoon action off the riggers. Water has been very calm with only one morning of fishing in 8-10 foot waves. Here are a few pics so far:

Valv, I won't be making it back out here this year, but I wish you the best of luck.

Randy, glad you got into them this weekend. It was nice meeting you on the dock.

Cheffrey, nice pics! Sounds like you guys did pretty well. Our best fish was about 34" as well. We got fish all over the water colum each day. Small 3 1/2" glow ghost j plug caught some really nice kings on the rigger set between 50-60', the flys and dodgers took alot of fish on the dipsey rods and our leadcore rods of boards caught some nice steelhead. Spoons off the boards were good with orange and chartruesse ladder back, evil alewife(EXWIFE)! he,he, watermelon and bloody nose all producing. Monkey puke and pearl weren't hot this past weekend in our boat. We experimented with a thunderstick junior, green glow off of one board on Sunday and it produced 3 nice steelhead. No hits while the kevorkian was down and didn't do anything with blue as far as spoons go. The aqua howe flies were hot as well as the green. Seems that the fish like them all tore up with less tinsel for some reason. Tom, nice to meet you looks like you had a great trip and the crew you were with seemed friendly as well. I'm hoping to get back out there 2 more times before the fall trolling heats up.

Well me and cheffrey just got back into town after a long trip to Lake Michigan and I think i need to ice my back and forearms from reeling in all those kings! grin.gif Some of the most productive fishing i have ever seen, one of the boats we went with actually had 7 fish on at once and landed all 7!!! Our biggest king ended up being 37 inches and close to 20 and we got a bunch of huge cohos, talk about a nice surprise. Full cores of lead off boards and dipsies were the ticket, although riggers would occationally get hot. We also got a few fish off snap weights. Everything was on flashers and flies, white inticers were the hottest in numerous color variations. green and blue glow howie flies were also the ticket. What a great trip with a great crew and I even behaved myself this year! wink.gif

I have a bunch of great pics to post but i'm a little too tired right now....tommorrow hopefully. grin.gif

"Couple less hours at the above mentioned Pizza Bowl might help that next year."

Less hours at the Pizza Bowl? What's that? Thats part of the trip!! I plan on leaving the PB and heading down to our boat for the morning catch! We'll be out there tomorrow around 2pm and can hardly wait.

I actually over fueled an airplane today because I was day-dreaming of all those kings I'm gonna catch tomorrow and Friday. The Captain didn't mind too much. He just said, "You can never have too much fuel... unless you're on fire."

FM the fish are there and they are hitting with the early morning hours being best but an evening bite that hasn't been half bad either. We actually had an anomoly this year as we limited in shallower water with three guys on a nearly flat morning with the best bites coming between 7-2p.m. I looked out on the lake and we had the shallow stuff all to ourselves as everyone else was out in the 100+ range and we picked up fish steady from 60-95'. Good luck out there, I'm heading back out in a week or two.

We will be back as well Aug 1-5, things look to be a bit different then the last few weeks with warmer temps! Can't get enough of those chinese fire drills in the dark! Gonna try some new rigs for getting deeper/away this time.

Hopefully got the trailer thing figured out- got a new one! (6 blowouts in the last 3 years going over there)

Hey Guys,

I'm heading out in less then 3 hours to Manitowac for two days. I'm so excited and don't think we can get across cheese land fast enough. We have a 1-7pm on Thursday and 4:30-10:30am on Friday with Big Family Charters. For 10 people (two boats) we have limited out every trip over to Lake Michigan.

later,

I was out on friday and saturday. Went 4 for 9 on friday and 5 for 10 on saturday. Most bites came on boards and dipsies. Glow j-plugs on boards with snap weights and bloody nose spoon on one dipsy and watermelon spoon or white flasher aqua fly on other dipsy. Naked lady spoon worked best on SWR and best F/F was green double glow with kermit frog fly. The bite was very short lived each outing with hours of graphing constant fish and then only getting action for 15-45 minutes. Weather was great just wished we could've landed some more.

I am headed out Wednesday morning thru the weekend. We will be on the water looking for some nice fish. We are staying at the Timber Trails campground and will be fishing in a 19 foot Bayliner. If you see us at the Algoma fish cleaning shack say hi.

Hey Andy, I'll be out Friday-Sunday, we have a slip on the river for saturday then we will be transients. As always look for the guy with the faded grayish blue mickey mouse cap. This weekend we'll be fishing out of a 21' Crestliner. Maybe we'll see you out there like last year. Good luck and tear them up, be safe!

Sounds good. Not sure what channel we are going to be on but will scan the radio. I might give out a call to tunrevir from the Wild Thing. We don't call to many people on the radio but keep your ears open. Also I forgot your first name. ????

Good luck and I am outta here in the AM

Well we ended up with our limit of fish for the trip. Smaller fish this year but did have a few in the 10-15 lbs range. Randy we only spoke a little on the radio Saturday night but it was nice to talk with another boat out on the big lake. Best depths for us was 60-75 feet. Glow spoons with the spot light charged worked the best durning the magical hours. We are heading out again next week for a 3 day weekend.

Good luck

Magician,

what hours did you find the best fishing? We ended up with 18 fish, maybe lost 8 more. We were out with a charter though and it seemed like later(we were done at 7pm) and earlier(headed out a 4am) would have been a bit better.

Also are you the same fishin magician that runs the charters out of Algoma?

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
    • Chef boyardee pizza from the box!
