pflueger trion

I have one and love it. I had one problem with the flipping switch and I sent it to Pflueger and they promptly sent me a new fishing reel without the flipping switch. Apparently, there was a flaw and they had a few returns. Don't think they make it with a flipping switch anymore. Great reel for the price.

here is a little helpful something on trion spinning reals. i was talking to the fishing guy at the rochester gander and he said that the gander mountain guide series fishing reals are actually made by pflueger and are the trions. He said every year gander makes a contract with some big reel company and buys like 1million of them and has them put guide series all over them instead of the companies name. So we the angler get a guide series(trion) for 20 bucks. And ganders return policy is awesome. If you have one that acts a little funny or gets a little noisy just take it back no box needed or reciept and they will swap it out. They do the same thing with there rods even if they are busted into 25 pieces. Good ol gander

I had use one for bass fishing last year. The gears broke on me twice and the drags are alway sticking, fixed it and sold it. I take very good care of my reels and I do a deep cleaning and grease, oils them when ever it needs one. I really like the smoothness of the reel but I don't think it's worth the $100.

While it is true pflueger produces some lines of reels for Gander Mtn, they are not the same reels inside. The bearings are different. While, for the most part, most will not notice much of a difference, for some, the bearings with the added protection is worth the $$$. As alway's, it's best to compare and decide from there.

I have a Guide Series spinning that is the knock-off of the President and it's a darn nice reel for the $15 I paid for it. I also have a couple Presidents and when you compare the two side by side you will definitely see and feel that the Pflueger is much nicer.

My son had a guide series baitcaster for one year. Can't remember what happened to it, but we brought it back to gander and they gave us credit towards the purchase of another reel. Reel couldn't be fixed because it was a discontinued model. He got a quantam. I have a Trion and have not had but great success with it. I don't think I'll be buying a guide series reel.

I used to buy gander guide spinning reels for 20. But each year I'd have to get a new one as they fall apart. Granted I go fishing a lot, but I felt they were junk.

Now I'm a shimano guy -thanks to a guy at gander for talking them up so much.

I do have a couple gander rods that I do like, but not the reels.

ebass how many days a year do you fish. I have over 300 days on the water on my gander spinning reels and none have gone caput. i even dropped one in the mud and took it apart and cleaned it and it still runs great. I wonder if you just got a bad batch or something. I can't manage to even break one and i am by no means prissy or graceful with my equipment(just ask my wife)

Not 300 - I dunno - it was 20 bucks and a few years (5) ago at the Gander in Fridley. It was the cheapest I could find and gave true meaning of, "You get what you pay for." It worked fine, until the end of the year then the bail would close while casting or would only close half way, and the drag was shot. Now I'm a Shimano guy and can't complain one bit. laugh.gif

Guide Series reels have got better in the past few years, in my opinion. I get the Guide Series for cheap so I run a few and they are nice but nothing like shimano which I use most. Lets be honest though shimano and guide series is like comparing apples to oranges wink.gif The rods on the other hand are nice deals but now im getting off topic...

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
