WELLLL.....

If I add the purchse prices of my Truck and Boat and IceShack, they exceed the purchase price of my house

PLUS

I try to justify this as being appropriate because if I add the time I spend in my Truck and Boat and IceShack, it exceeds the amount of time I spend in my house.

SO ... does that qualify me for RN status ? ? ? (my wife emphatically says YESSSSS)

I like to think of myself as an intellectual redneck. I can spell, drive a pickup, use proper English, own and shoot many guns, read a lot, ice fish, and know how to use punctuation properly.

I hunt, fish, have a fourwheeler, pickup, and listen to country. But one thing I cant stand are loud trucks with lifts kits. Especially when they wake me up at 2 am roaring down the street. I also notice that most guys in these trucks are little squirts. Must be trying to make up for their short-comings?? smirk.gif

No that alone doesn't cut it, but living in Truman sure does.

I don't look at redneck as a derogitory term heck I can't even spell that word, I take it as a compliment when I get called a redneck. I guess I pull of the hunter, fisherman, hick look pretty well for a city boy who flips burgers and makes pizza for a living. Well if you can call Essig a city, and if anyone knows where Essig is that might also make you a Redneck, or someone who drives highway 14 between New Ulm and Sleepeye alot........

I came to FM after watching it (you guys) for a while and seeing what an informed and helpful group of sportspeople you were. Seeing this thread makes me LOL, as the lottery slogan says "don't forget to have some fun", and I have had that reading this.

I've got all the redneck toys but still not a redneck, as the definition goes. I guess in the English classes that I have taken I was taught that the definition of the word is what it means. So can someone tell me why this word is so special that it dosen't follow the English rules? The reference books define it as one thing but for some reason the people that proclaim to be one don't follow the rules. Or maybe the people that think they are one don't really know what they are proclaiming to be? Now that would make you a redneck! tongue.gif

As most can tell, this post if intended as humor, and I find it funny indeed. But just to give my two cents on it, words change meaning and definitions. Here's one that about everybody who is reading this has called someone... a geek... but have you ever actually seen any of the Geek Squad bite the head off a chicken? wink.gif

"American Heritage Dictionary - Cite This Source

geek (gçk) Pronunciation Key

n.

A person regarded as foolish, inept, or clumsy.

A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.

A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken. "

I am a computer geek by occupation, but not socially inept or single minded. I am sure there are other definitions for it as well. So somebody calling themselves rednecks are most likely not calling themselves for the derogatory terms, but for the newer meaning ala Foxworthy et. al. wink.gif

Dictionaries change and add to the definitions each year. and they add words like "Ain't" that I was always taught "isn't in the dictionary" so we could not use it. Ain't that a shame?

I too am in White Bear Lake, and people in Western burbs think we live out in the country, no kidding. But this ain't hick land for the most part, but it has its moments! ha!

All in fun,

It takes more than a truck and an ATV guys. Your truck better be American made too.

At my place we have a 150 yard shooting range 5 paces from our front door. We also have the ability to shoot a golf ball off a fence post, open sights, with a .22 at 100 yards. I dont even want to bring up the potato gun. Also I think you must have destroyed a television by gunfire at least once in your life to be considere redneck. We have video of that.

I'd rather be a redneck than some wanna be trying to impress the Jonses. You know the type. Buys a new boat and new truck to pull it with and makes 15 years of payments. Of course they have to trade every three years and by the time they are done they owe twice as much as everything is worth, lol shocked.gif

Yep...and proud of it. Of course on a relative scale to the rest of the people down here in the south I am probably considered pretty mild.

In Missouri, we sometimes take redneck to a new level. But of course we don't have all the (Contact Us Please) laws that prevent taking adavantage of the redneck ways like MN has.

  • Your Responses - Share & Have Fun :)

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
    • Chef boyardee pizza from the box!
