Wookiee
Elwood do you have problems with the bones not dissolving in those 28's you have been stabbing?
BD110
lambjam,That was quite the sign. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Happy Birthday to you also.toomuchfun?, If you're pickling larger pike and want to make sure the bones become soft enough you can increase your time on step two. Instead of 24 hours in vinegar you can go 36 or 48 hours.
hoggs222
Would leaving it in the last step for longer work, since it's still vinegar, but mixed in with all the goodies?
BD110
hoggs222,I guess I'm not sure on that one I have never tried it. If you make a batch and the y-bones seem to be a problem you could leave it sit for a week or two before trying it again. If you do let us know how it worked out. I've always left my larger Northens in the straight vinegar step for an extra day so I haven't had a y-bone concern.

BigWadeS
I just found a new recipe from a co-worker I am going to try, it should be like canned salmon almost when done. Might be interesting!

Walleye Guy
I want to try your pickled fish recipe. In the recipe it states "3.5 sugar" what unit of measure is missing? TBLS or Cups etc. Thanks.
