If you're pickling larger pike and want to make sure the bones become soft enough you can increase your time on step two. Instead of 24 hours in vinegar you can go 36 or 48 hours.

I guess I'm not sure on that one I have never tried it. If you make a batch and the y-bones seem to be a problem you could leave it sit for a week or two before trying it again. If you do let us know how it worked out. I've always left my larger Northens in the straight vinegar step for an extra day so I haven't had a y-bone concern.

Elwood do you have problems with the bones not dissolving in those 28's you have been stabbing?

sorry it took so long to reply AG but No they desolve just fine dont even no there are bones in them. Hmm if it keeps raining I might have to start up another batch of PP thats stuff doesnt last very long around my house.
