What Would you Never Hunt?

I don't think there is anything wrong with baiting bear. I have a good family freind with a hunting cabin near itasca, and have hunted them my self. In all the years I've been going there I can't ever remeber seeing a wild bear except while hunting over a bait. There are really only two ways you could hunt them. With dogs or baiting. Minnesota doesn't allow the use of dogs, and I don't know if would want to hunt them that way. As far as not never hunting a specific animal I'm not sure if there is one. I guess I will agree with the fenced animal hunt. I don't think I could ever do that!

I at one time could hunt anything that could be hunted, Or at least I thought I could. Now that I'm much older I think that I could only hunt what I intent to eat. I see alot of trophys these days but as a friend of mine from out east always says,"You can't eat the horns". I think as I have got older I'm not as happy with a wall full of mounts as I would be with a freezer full of meat. But I agree with a Zebra.Thats a horse!!!!! how the H#*^ could any one eat that. I know, I'm sure its very yummie!!!!!

Timber wolves. I remember being up near Isabella in the late 1970's in Jan. cross country skiing and it was at night with a full moon and it was 45 below and we were yelling and screaming and one guy in our party started to yell for us to be quiet and we heard that long, mournful cry, followed by another, then another. I cannot imagine life without them

I agree, I wouldn't hunt anything that I or someone else wouldn't eat. I just don't have the desire to walk up to something and kill it just because. If, and that's a big if, I ever went on an African safari I'd make sure the meat was going to good use. No elephants or zebra's though. It might be fun to saddle a zebra and try to stay on for 8 seconds though. wink.gif

A muskox, unless it was a stalk and shoot hunt. The articles I've seen have the guys running them with snowmobiles, then when they circle up in defense, they pick the one they want to shoot. Not for me.

I personally don't like to shoot anything that is going to get tossed and not eaten, like crows and coots. They may be legal to shoot but I won't do it just to toss them in a pile.

I also won't shoot anything over bait, that includes bear and most of the hunting in Texas. Most of the videos that you see filmed in Texas show animals feeding and they shoot them from blinds. Basically they're using the animals as live 3D targets. Not for me.

FYI, most of the big game hunting in Africa IS done inside fences. It may be 10,000 acres but its inside a fence.

Personally I probably wouldn't ever have the chance to go to Africa and hunt there so its a moot point but here, locally its Mountian Lion and Timberwolf. I have some sort of admiration for them. Plus I wouldnt' eat them, so there would be no point.

GSP- Sandhill cranes are delicious. I have never hunted them, but I know guys who call them ribeye in the sky. I think they are more like dinosaurs personally....
