outdoor ran
Take out your favorite driver if hes in the chase and who would be your second choice that you would like to see get the cup. I'll throw out Gordon because that aint going to happen anyway . Guess I'd like to see Burton win a cup. I didn't really care for him when he was a Rousch driver. But he kinda was given up for the dead and is now back again. Plus he's a big part of making the sport safer I believe. Who's your second choice? harvey lee
My choice is for Jr to win and if I had to pick another it without a doubt would be Mark Martin with Burton following a close second.
eyepatrol
Burton...he's a class act in my opinion and a great guy for the sport.
metrojoe
Mark Martin would be my choice also.
Sandee
Sentimental pick is Mark Martin. I also think it is great that Jeff Burton is in the chase.
lawdog
1st choice: #24... 2nd choce: anybody but the most overhyped overrated driver in the history of NASCAR, in short: "anybody but Jr."

Eric Wettschreck
Mark Martin. Lawdog, I'm starting to get the feeling you're not much of a Jr fan.
harvey lee
Jeff is not a bandwagon rider.
lawdog
I don't mind Jr. at all actually. I just think his fans are far too carried away with proclaiming how great he is when in reality he hasn't accomplished that much compared to the real great drivers out there. Just because he's #3's kid doesn't automatically make him one of the greats!
harvey lee
You are right Jeff.I know thaT I am a big Jr fan and yes he has not done much yet,but I really believe that he will. His team is getting better and he himself will do what he needs to be done to be a champion. In time my friend,in time. Cyberfish
Kenseth. He would be running away with it again if not for the lame chase format. Burton would be a close 3rd choice. Also Harvick would be nice cuz I am the only one who picked him to win!
Sutty
I also agree about Jr. I don't mind him, I think he is good for the sport. Its his fans that drive me crazy. Just like in football I don't mind GB its the Packer fans that are wacko.I'll second Harvick he had a rough start trying to fill big shoes and he has calmed down and become a good driver. OUTDOORNUT
I'd be happy to see Martin or Burton to win it as my second choice. Both deserve it and both have earned it.
TNFL
How about the other Hendrick son Jimmy Johnson. Or 6 wins Kahne! I'm sorry guys, but I have to say no to Martin. At no time in his career was he, is he, or will he ever be considered the best driver in the circuit. how I would like to see it: #24 #48 #9 #17 #31 #29 #8 overrated #11 too young definately will move up the list in a few years #5 same as above #6 Thats my personal ranking for the top ten! eyepatrol
I didn't get to see much of the last race, but what I did see pretty much disgusted me. I saw the part where Martin was wrecked by Yeley. Then, in his interview, he's all smiles and happy-go-lucky saying "I'm having a great time....I'm happy as can be" and so on. I mean, C'MON! That's rediculous. Maybe it was his way of dealing with his situation, but c'mon, nobody is ever having a great time or is happy as can be just after they get wrecked, ESPECIALLY when they're right up there in the points chase like he was (leading the chase at one point in the race). Maybe he was trying to take the so-called "high road", but in my opinion, he was giving out a few white lies by saying he was having a great time and was happy as can be. Yeah right....tell me another bedtime story.
Eric Wettschreck
Dude that's just Mark Martin. We all know he was PO'd but he takes it like a man and leaves the crying a whining and poo pooing to the other guys. (insert what ever name here you'd like)Personally, I like the fact that Martin will tell the bedtime story. I really don't want to hear a bunch of crying. Also, if I was him I'd be beer and giggles too. He's how freakin old and still racing on a championship level.
eyepatrol
Yeah, I just would have preferred to see the fire in his belly come out more. I feel he could have shown how [PoorWordUsage]ed he was yet still remained professional about it. To me, the happy-go-lucky approach was a bit over the top. harvey lee
I would agree with boilerguy in that Mark stays pretty cool. That without a doubt does not by any means mean he has not the drive to win.He just acts a little more grown up than some of the other cry babies. VMS
Being the seemingly ONLY #9 fan on this site, I don't think he will be able to make it to the top, even though we are into the 1-1/2 mile tracks quite a bit from now until the end of the season. So..I will put him as my second choice. Heck...with 6 wins right now, he should be closer to the top, but DNF's or in many cases (as with many other drivers) a little bad luck at other tracks, it just hurts overall..I would like to see him as a second choice, but I really believe that Burton will come out #1. The way he has helped get RCR back to Richard Childress Racing from Richard's Children Racing has been a nice change. The Consistency is back, and the professionalism he shows on and off the track is top notch..Steve
xedge2002
With my first choice being Kenseth I would have to say Burton would be my second. Seems like a nice guy, good driver and never on TV whining about somebody wrecking him or driving too rough he has been around for a while and its is nice to see him getting back to the top.I also like Kahne, I don't know that I have ever seen him come right out and blame somebody else for wrecking him. He is a really good young driver. If they can get their car packages figured out he will be real tough to beat in the next few years.
Sifty
First choice would be Burton. Seems like a great guy.Second choice would be Harvick. He had some big shoes to fill.No I'm not a big Childres guy.Sifty
Meaney
first choice Kenseth second choice would definatly have to be Martin. oh, by the way....burton stinks. he gets that one win and all of a sudden he is everybodys favorite to win...
