Just think if we had Shannon Stewart!

As good as we are now, just think where we'd be with Shannon Stewart in the line up hitting .300 or better. Shannon Stewart has always been one of my favorite players. He keeps his mouth shut and goes to work. He plays all out, running into walls getting clutch hits and whathave u. What did he do on his first game back from Injury this year?..only went 4 for 4!!!!!!! I hope there is a way to bring him back next year if we can!

I know he has injury issues, but alot of guys who were counted out have come back to have productive careers.

I have to aggree. There has been alot of situations where he would have been able to hit in the clutch, or at least better then situations where people are not getting it done. he will not be back next year i dont beleive, but if they are smart, they will sign him.

The only way I'd want Stewart back is a DH. By next year his arm will be so bad that runners will score from second base on a sacrifice fly. Bad thing is the Twins will never have a full time DH. They just like to use the spot in the order for rehab abs. Tough to get into a groove with inconsistant abs. Last year Lecroy would get a little something going and then wouldn't play for the better part of a week because someone would get pulled off the field to heal.

Honestly I don't think we would be much better off if Stewart was back in the lineup. The 4 runners Tyner threw out at would have been safe so that is atleast 3 extra runs in close games, plus Tyner would be the man you are sitting down to make room for Stewart and Tyner is hitting over .300 as well. The only thing Stewart would bring is a little more power but I don't think that makes up for his terrible arm.

Also he has been tried at DH a few times over his career and he can't do it. He has said he needs the routine of playing in the field to get into the groove at the plate.

For what Stewart will cost us its just not worth it for a player with a terrible arm and who is on the DL atleast twice a year. Once your feet go on that turf they will always bother you.

Well said nofishfisherman, the only thing you left out are the balls that Tyner gets to that Stewart won't, partly because of a little more speed, but mostly because he's much better at reading the ball & gets a good jump. I'd say he's as good of a defensive left fielder as I've seen in the league this year. It's like have Jacque back in left like he used to be.

I'm not bashing Stewart because I agree he's a fantastic hitter & a good guy, but there's no way he's back with the Twins. I don't think it makes sense if they could sign him for much less that I think it will take. Tyner has to start next year, I suppose if they don't resign Hunter you could make a case for Tyner in center & Stewart in left, but I don't think he's got much left in the tank. He's game, I just don't think his body is.

Sledneck, I think your as high with this post as you think I am about Mauer. My god a 2 month player and we have that already in Tyner in 3 weeks. 4 outfield assists in 3 weeks, more than Stewy in a career. Avg. about the same. Can we agree to dissagree without slamming each other? You will think i'm even crazier with this prediction, trade Francisco. He's a 2-3 year pitcher, with the arm angle, he's another TJ in a heartbeat. His value has already dropped. Great pitcher for now, but I would take a power 3rd baseman or left fielder for him soon. A big name player only.
