prov1900
To steal the idea from the last topic, is anyone having a banner year? With all the heat in the Midwest, things are tough right now, unless youre a night-owl. So far, this year, I have caught/released my largest Northern Pike and crappie of my life. I have tied my largest largemouth bass, and have had an amazing year for walleyes and smallmouths. The only thing I am searching for is a big gill. Plus a large walleye wouldn't be too much to ask for right? Maybe Lac Seul will give it up. I hate to brag, but all these years of watching people catch their largest walleye/muskie/pike out of my boat has apparently come to an end. Long live me I think I have turned it around. fishermn
Me too! Caught a couple 36"+ northerns, my 3 largest walleyes ever, and learned to fish LM bass with Senko's (50+ so far in the last couple weeks). In addition, I have been out more this year than most years in the past, and when I have been out the walleyes have really cooperated, and I have pretty much brought home a good number every time! Fever
Doing real well this summer. Don't know exactly how many fish I've caught so far but the number has got to be fairly high. Usually catch a handfull every time out. Haven't been skunked too many times. I'm more concernd with quality fish though. Bass over 17 inches is what I'm talking about. Off the top of my head I'm thinking I've caught five bass over 20 inches so far, largest being 21.5, heaviest being 5 lb 12 oz. that measured 20.5 inches. Also 8 bass over 19 but not quite 20 inches. Two of those were real nice smallies caught on Mille lacs on top water. Haven't spent more than a few hours trying for walleyes because in my opinion it's almost a waste of time on most central to south central mn lakes. A guy can go out fish what seems to be perfect structure at the perfect time(dawn, or dusk, or even evening), using lively fresh bait, leeches, crawlers, fatheads on jigs or live bait rigs.... and get skunked REAL easy. I just can't sit there and troll for hours on end. Rod bending, Drag peeliing, top water bait smashing, jumping out of the water..., bass is where it's at. Posted a decent pic in the Bass forum. Check it out.

rosspj59
I am having a good year because I have had the opportunity to fish some new lakes and areas on the mississippi river. I have learned some new techniques(to me) and have started trolling more effectively. This heat is getting old though.
Finlander
You BetchYa! Caught a 40" pike on Gull Lake, 12lb. pike on Mille Lacs, also many eye's too numerous to count on Mill Lacs along with some nice smallmouth bass with many over 17+ inches! All but the 40" pike that got hooked badly in the gills and some slot walleyes were kept! The 40" pike is going on the wall!

fiskyknut
Fantastic, Amazing, or words cannot justly express how good the LOTW Walleye fishery has been this summer season. I can honestlt say I've only had 1 day that I considered slow all thru the openwater season. As of late the BIG fish bite has been in full stride iffin you're on the right set of rocks on any given day. I've boated and or netted a dozen+ fish over the slot in the past 9 days. Friday saw a 29, 29.5, 30.5 and a 31, plus many mid 20's, yesterday saw 2 30's and a 29 and plenty more midslotters. Check the LOTW reports this summer could go down as the best ever.....Go Now!!!!fiskyknut
