HELP - I've been sucking up at Tonka lately. Docks have produced we lil pocket bass (some smallies though:)) and the slop isn't working. Could it be time to explore the deep? It's hard for me to fish the deep water in a lil jon boat, but I'll have to try. Um, I guess

Yes!!! use weedlines, humps, rocks, and top of drop offs. use drops shots, swim baits, jigs, spoons, spinnerbaits, cranks, stupid rig, carolina rig... anything u can use to get to the depth where the fish are

Been doing most of my fishing wader style(kinda hot in this weather) and a little from boat. Action is alright, size...not so much. Last few times out I've fished in 2 hour spurts towards sundown and have caught some nice numbers, especially towards dark. Wading the other night in Eden Prarie I fished from 7-8"30,caught 10 bass, but 4 of which came after sundown, where I couldn't even see where I was casting. I've been getting right into the weeds in the waders and working the edges and irregularities with senkos and soft plastics mostly.

I made it out this morning for a couple hours. Just couldn't resist the cool temps and comfortable weather!

I started off working a piece of deep structure in about 13-15 feet. It was an isolated grass hump that was pinned between deep and shallow water. I pitched a jig-worm over it for about 45 minutes and managed to land a few smaller fish in the 12-15 inch range. The big ones didn't seem to be holding on that particular piece of structure so I slid up towards a set of docks that were next to deeper water.

By this time is was about 10:30am and the sun was out and casting a very nice shady spot around the pontoons and larger docks. I worked a wacky-rigged Christmas Tree Comida both along side and under the docks. Caught 6 fish off the docks between 10:30-11:30am, all over 16 inches with the biggest just ticking that 21-inch mark...

The larger fish were definitely holding under the docks today and they were aggressive. All of my hits under the docks where within a couple seconds (if even that) of the bait hitting the water. Some of the fish hit immediately and tore out drag like a pike!

Looks like this nice weather is going to last through tomorrow as well for the Metro Area. I'm going to try another lake tomorrow in hopes of patterning a few larger deep water bass...

I was out on saturday and good luck with a firetiger Dt10. I had the boat in 15 feet of water and fan casted around the weedlines. I did miss more fish than I thought I should have though. I had several on that came loose and one was a really nice one. The good thing was that the pike never cut me off. I even caught a few crappies in the process. The weather was awesome this last weekend for fishing and being outdoors.

loosing fish is just a part of crankbait fishing.. you would think they wouldn't be able to shake them hooks, with there being so many and all.. but they manage to!... that is for sure.

I managed to get out for a couple of hours this a.m.... then I had to be home to stain the deck... BOOOOOOOOOO!!!... but managed a dozen bass... mostly deep, rocks...stupid rig... year total 462.

Topwater was producing all week up in the Pine River area north of Brainerd. Tourney series Scum Frog was the top presentation. Earlier in the week they were hitting hard, then a little less aggressive later in the week. Regardless, topside was producing all week, mainly up in the shallow cover and any lilly pads on the edge. Skitter Prop brought in a few fish too, but not as much as the stop 'n' go retrieve with the scum frogs.

Once I hit the top water in a spot, I switched to a Jig & Pig or a jig worm off the weed break, both the surface break and the outside break. That worked as well, with my largest at 20.5 inches coming that way.

Fun stuff!! I have the "hook set" bruise on the side of my ribs as a reminder! Water temps in that area were at 74 to 75.

Went out yesterday evening for a little Bass fishing. The fish really weren't in an active mood. I was only able to get 1-2 fish from my go to spots. In all I ended up with 16 Bass; so it wasn't a horrible day out. I also made this video....

Took my bro out fishing for a couple hours right after sunrise today. We didn't land a lot of fish, but we got a few nice ones. We skipped docks with wacky-rigged Comidas pretty much the entire time. I managed to land one my largest fish of the season... a hair over 22-inches...

It struck about 10 yards back under a dock and it was a miracle that I got it out. I knew it was a good fish but I didn't think it was that big. My brother and I about crapped when we saw it surface and flop (too big to jump ). A very heavy and thick fish too.

Depth didn't seem to matter a whole lot today. We caught fish in a foot of water all the way to 5-6 feet under the docks. The big one came in about 2-3 feet of water off a dock that was surrounded by weeds...
