Outrageous Ebay prices

Did anyone see what price some guy is trying to sell the new chatterbaits for on hsolist... 50 bucks! That is just insane. I emailed the guy and said he was crazy and he responded that he had people actually paying that much.

You can get some decent prices on there most of the time.

What do you guys think of the chatterbait ? I picked one up at gander mountain for 11 bucks.

Is it a fish catcher or a fish killer ?

You can tell I'm a little worried about the way it's put together but I really like the action.

The lure has definitely caught fisherman!!!! however i have heard of guys taking a blade dancer and basically making it into the same thing. You won't see me spending that. At one point they were going for 150 one HSOList rediculous. ike

On another board, a guy posted that he was looking for the old style Blue Fox buoy markers. He said he saw a couple sell for $100 on hsolist.

We used to give them away at our annual banquet.

It amazes me how people will follow what it is they think is "in"......thousands wasted on weddings, teens lusting/coveting over the latest nike tennis shoes, $45-50K trucks, punks with the hats on backwards listening to the latest rap are no different in nature than fishermen wearing their bass shirts with the logos and pathces, or young gun musky hunters wanting the latest Hughey, Weagle, Bull Dawg or Chatter Bait. Its all marketing and the package more than the product itself. Come one, Come all.

You put six ice shacks together in a field or shallow pond in the winter, put out some dummy tip ups and start mouthpiecing that your slaying 40 inch jacks and you'll have company in less than a week......

Things have gotten to far out of hand on hsolist, anyone remember the days of searching for "Musky" in the sporting goods section and getting maybe a half dozen pages. Now you search hsolist out there and your returns are showing 20+ pages. The prices these baits are going for are astranomical too, I don't know about you guys but a majority of these baits can be purchsed in a store, why on earth would anyone pay above retail for a bait. The thing about hsolist that I do like is the smaller bait makers that are putting their customs out there, I like custom baits, Hawaiisbest, danzyk baits, and some others.

I'm convinced hsolist is now for those who would rather not leave the house to go buy something. It's the lazy man's shopping spree. It sure is fun trying to win something on there though!!

Couple of deals to be had.

You have to be patient. I've been looking for a GPS. One week the H20's go for 150, next week 125. It's ridiculous what some spend, especially if it gets into a bidding war.

If you are willing to look and wait, there are buys to be had on hsolist. You just cannot get caught up in the bidding or else you will pay way to much.If you know your prices and are willing to buy at 3am,you will get the buy you are looking for.In the last year or so,hsolist has alot of new buyers, and yes they are willing to pay retail plus.

Best thing to do is not bid until the end of the auction..otherwise someone will most certianley bid the item up on you. seems people get off doing that... I picked up a almost new milwaukee drywall screw gun for 16 bucks, recently.....waited until last minute of the auction to bid...just my 2 cents ..but thats how it seems to go

Your right pikechaser. If you start bidding early, the price will go crazy.I wait until 20 seconds and then pop in what the most that I want to pay.Sometimes I lose, but when I win,I get the item at the price I want to pay.

You can get some good deals, but some prices are ridiculous. There is a 6600C4 right now that I was watching that is at $97 right now. Last time I browsed through my BPS catalog (last night grin.gif), the exact same reel was $85. It's crazy because it's not like you have to look hard to find a better deal. Pretty much any major national retailer has a better price than that!

Some day, I'll start selling chicken nuggets on hsolist that look like famous celebrities and will be able to retire... it's not just fishing gear! It's amazing what some people try to sell, and it's even more amazing what people are willing to buy.

I used to spend a fair amount of time on hsolist, though none lately.

I'd go on looking for excellent condition, like new in the box, or new in the box Ambassadeur 6500 series reels. I'd know what those various models sold for at big box stores when on sale, and I'd simply cap my bid at $25 or $30 below that price.

Almost all the reels sold for much more than that, and, as described already, it's amazing to me that people will pay more than the regular price of a new reel in an hsolist auction, and that before shipping charges.

But those reels are common enough on hsolist that there always seem to be a bunch being offered, and I've purchased three of them that way. Almost always, my bid wins only when there are a bunch of simultaneous 6500 auctions all expiring at roughly the same time. That saturates the "market," so to speak, and often allows a reasonable bid to squeak through.
