I have an H20 with the LakeMaster chip in it. When running around the cities during the week it hangs from my windshield most of the time. Some roads are way, way off on it. The roads I am talking about have been here for years and years.....any ideas??

The maps are not perfect and some things will be a little off, try zooming in or out to see if that helps.

As far as the Lake Maps go they are very accurate and most of the effort was put into those area's.

Good Luck your going to love that unit chip combo.

luckey, Navionics has introduced a Canadian Chip (mostly Ontario lakes). Crow Lake is on the list. Check with Navionics to see which dealers have the new 2006 map chips.

As I'm typing this I want to address the post concerning the individual driving around the Twin Cities with the map roads being "off". I drove down to Eden Prairie for a board meeting last Friday. As I had never been to this office, I hit "Find" on my H2Oc, typed in the address, and waypointed the address. The H2Oc correctly took me to my destination. It kept me on the proper highway/road/street without a problem.

I've noticed driving around the cities and the entire state of Minnesota for that matter that the background map is right on the money.

Yes. Every now and then, I'll drive off the road. This usually happens in areas that were just under road construction or where the road has been re-routed.

hanson, If you'd watch where you're going instead of always looking at the GPS when you're driving - you wouldn't drive off the road so often cool.gif

Another h2oc/lakemaster question. As for the EPE, Is 16ft the best I can expect? Mostly hangs around 30ft and seems to be always off in the same direction. (north west) As far as driving I'm always off roading. lol Also will I always have to comp this when on a lake. Also WAAS looked good.

I guess the way everyone talked about the lakemaster I expected way too much

Thanks

I noticed that my Hunt C the roads were off quite a bit as well. My old Global Map 100 was always right on. Does anyone know if there is a setting that one can change for this. I am sure that most of them are fine but why is it that some of the units seem the road maps are off?

It can be dangerous...

3 times last weekend on Mille Lacs I was almost run over by trucks on my sled by drivers looking down at there GPS's, I know they were I-Finders with Map chips because I was working they edge of a Flat each time and one time I had to take evasive action... grin.gif

Along with those guys I could use a Ram mount for my sled and truck whats everybody using??

I have a Garmen GPSmap 76cs and I have been looking for a good program that has minnesota lakes and all of LOW (MN and ON). people keep telling me that there is a new chip coming out in the spring that has what I am looking for. well, my unit dosn't take chips, the software is only loaded from a PC. Is this going to be a problem for me? Does this program have what I am looking for?

I have been looking at the minnesota lake master program and it has everything I am looking for but for some strange reason it doesnt have LOW. Why would they leave that out. Big mistake if you ask me. I was also looking at the recreationl lakes with fishing hot spots, central region. this has LOW MN and ON but leaves out alot of other MN lakes that I would like to have. I know I cant have it all but I would like to get the most for my money. any recomindations.

doc, just so I understand, the H20c did not navigate you like a MapQuest map does, correct? It gave you a point to point "Go To", and you adjusted when to make the turns on what streets.

Pier I used Ram Mounts on everything. I haven't found anything else that is as heavy duty as them. I mounted one like doc had mentioned in an earlier post right on the A pilliar of my truck. I used to have it below the dash but then it would bleep in and out of position and it was tough to see way down there. Much easier to work with on the A pillar. I also have mounts on the 4 wheeler and sled and then are on my boat for all my electronics as well. I have my XM radio and Cell phone mounted in my trucks with ram mounts too. I can go for ever with out them moving the slightest bit.

dockehr,

I've been searching for the Navionics Canada Chip you mentioned but have not been able to locate any information on it. Can you point me in the right direction. Thanks for the help.

Dave, no, the H2Oc will not guide you step by step to your destination. Once I had the addess on the unit's map page I could zoom out and determine the best route to take. As someone else was driving I was able to watch the plot trail on the map. The plot trail followed the highways and roads to the destination very accurately. On Interstate 94/494 it even showed us on the right side of the highway when zoomed way in!

luckey, the information will NOT be found on the Navionics HSOforum!! The information comes via someone who works for Navionics, who posts information on another site, who I had the pleasure of meeting this past July at the I-CAST National Tackle Show in Las Vegas.

We had quite a discussion on Lakemaster/Navionics products and so on. One point I brought up to Jeff was the poor job Navionics does with its HSOforum in terms of product sample images. What you're experiencing falls into that pot. There are release/pre-release Canada-only chips for sale right now. They are carried by some outlets right now and I was able to print out the list of lakes from these other sources. I can't say much more as Rick wouldn't stand for it.

I will say this, when I introduced myself to Jeff ( of Navionics), the first question out of his mouth was was I employed by Lakemaster?! I had quite a number of posts regarding map products and which ones could zoom in further, etc. We discussed this issue as well as others. Jeff, in my estimation is an upstanding individual. Up to this point, Lakemaster and Lowrance map chips have been more useful.

Pier I have gotten ram mounts many places. But the thing I have ran into is there are a few place that won't sell just the mirco ram base. I always end up seeming to get these from Cabela's. There is a nice holder the Ram makes for the i-Finder it fits right in nice and snug. I did get this at Thorne Bros and they have some other Ram stuff too. The ifinder base uses the Ram micro bases so that is the other thing you need to watch for the have the larger original size and the smaller one. Ram also has mounts for mounting to round pipe (4 wheeler handle bars) I found that on my sled I couldn't easily attach the base to the handle bars so I mounted it to the dash and used some fender washers on the bottom side. They have some many options of mounting I think you can mount one to just about anything.

Here's a problem I have been having with my H2o...when I fire it up it does it's check, find my location and then within one minute, it looses my position. It then can never find me again unless i fire it up and start all over only to have it loose the signal again? I have noticed that both times that this has happened to me I was in a car and I was moving at about 65 mph. Has anyone else had this kind of issue? I am wondering if maybe a setting is not correct...I was really upset the day I went to Prior and couldnt even use the dang thing to find some holes listed on my Lakemaster chip...any help would be appreciated.

    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
