How much do you think it would cost to mount?

A buddy of mine dragged this one and about ten others in with a pile of weeds along with a little snake that hit his tipup.

Serious question now, wouldnt you think these should be a little bigger by now? Im assuming its this years hatch, but this thing was barely an inch and some of the others were smaller

I personally feel it takes more skill to catch smaller fish than larger fish. Just think about it, how do you get a hook into a mouth of a small fish?

There has been a few times when I have been fishing for bluegills and have caught my shiner on my dead stick rod. To me this is more skill than catching a fish with a bigger mouth.

I would mount the fish for a conversation piece. I have snagged several rocks on Mille Lac's and they are on my mantel.

Honestly, my Grandpa was a taxidermist and my uncle caught a 44" pike in Canada that he was having mounted. My Grandpa, Dad and I were out fishing and my dad caught a 3.75" pike. My dad showed us and started to throw it back, but Grandpa started screaming, "Noooo, I'm gonna mount that with Bryon's big one" So he took it to mount on a piece of driftwood with the big one, like the big one was about to eat it. It ended up looking awesome. Total time mounting the 44" was about 10 hours less than the 4"! They make molds for the big ones, the small ones are all shaped by hand. I think that sunnie could be a pretty spendy mount. grin.gif

I see you extended your arms towards the camera in order to make it look larger than it really was.

Haha, more like to make sure people could actually see it.

I actually kept it in the bait bucket for awhile and was going to bring it home and see if I could raise it in a fish bowl but ended up letting it go...You know let the big ones go to keep the genes going.

I'm sorry, I don't see the fish! Is it actually in your hands? Just tell those who don't know you that it was 10" and you are 7'9" and have hands the size of hubcaps!lol

Heck, I think it takes a better fisherman to catch a small fish like that rather than catch a good sized Bluegill. Right Deitz? grin.gif

Fess up now.....You were fishing with Matt Johnson and this was his big one for the day.

Sorry Matt but I must say that was not only funny but even better coming from CT. grin.gif

TurnUpTheFishing, now all you need is a six inch pike to mount behind that one and you could have an award winning "mini mount" wink.gif
