How "coyote" is pronounced? help me settle a dumb debate

Ok guys, I need to here some opinions on this. I am bored at work so I thought I would post this. We have a funny debate among several friends on how to say coyote. I dont think there is a right or wrong answer.

Some of us say it like kI-yote, (like just "yote"

and others say it like kI-yoteee. "yoteee long e at the end"

Whats your take? Sorry for a lame post, just wanted to see if I could settle this debate. The things you talk about bored in a fish house lol...

Forget opinions- pick up a dictionary and settle the debate. I believe you'll find that both are correct pronunciations.

From what I've heard Ki-Yoteee seems to be more of a SW and Western United States pronunceation with Ki-yote being mid- western.

East coasters seem to call them Grey Wolves, Devil Dogs, Brush Wolves or the ever popular just plain Wolf.

They are both correct, it depends on state and area.

Actually I think the "tee" is actual spanish name, english version sounds just a little different (no "e" at the end).

I use to live in Wyoming and there too we had discussions about it....

That is where I learned to pronounce it Coyoteee-

It is pronounced "brush wolf" up north.

Ki-yote in most of the Midwest.

Ki-yotee in the cartoons.

"Yo-tay" on our western hunts.

"$#@&%& !!!!!" when I miss.

And then there is the "Coyote ugly saloon". When you go here you better use the tee version.
