I've been wanting to get in on the crappie bite on URL for the last two years. Out of the blue, a coworker invited me to join him and two other friends that I know for two nights in a sleeper on URL in two weeks. I fretted for three days on how to ask the activities chairman for permission. To test the waters, so to speak, I mentioned in passing that Larry had invited Moe and Curly to go fishing and did I want join them. Before I could start in with the reasons that I should be allowed to go, she said "You'd better go then"! When I talked with Moe the next day he said that his wife had the same response. Should we be worried?

That's about the time the Christmas bills will show up, so its easier for her to hide what she spent if you don't have a chance to see the bill. She might just be building up "credits" for when she really needs you to do something or she really wants to buy something, then she can cash these "credits" in. It could be that its easier to let you go then to listen to the complaining about not being able to go. A friend of mines wife made him stay home from turkey hunting one year to help out around the house. By noon she had grabbed his hunting gear and put it in the truck and said GO, its better that listening to your b&*$3ing all day. grin.gif

Yup- Pay attention. My buddy from work and I were up to LOW last year for 4 days of ice fishing. His war department seemed pretty calm about his leaving. What a surprise was awaiting him upon rerturning home. $10,000 worth of new faux hardwood floor! Not exaggerating here, the amazing thing is niether one went to jail and they are still married! So good luck!

I love that line! I hope you don't mind but I will be using

this line on a regular basis. Especially this time of year.

Obtaining the preauthorization was a great way to go however since no other review was needed, I would be concerned. I have to agree that she might be building up some "credit" as she might not have preauthed something she did or will do.

All else aside, you been granted auth on a fishing trip to URL to catch legendary size crappies and catch and release some potentional state record walleye. Run with this...

Good luck grin.gif

Take a deep breath, and relax, m'boy... it ain't a bad thing for her to give permission so easily. And there ain't something up her sleeve necessarily, either.

If she's known about your desire to go to URL for so long, and now a chance jumps out at you, she may just be smart enough to know that if she doesn't say yes, she'll never hear the end of it!!

So, trying to avoid any prolonged discussion/begging on your part, she just went with it and figured why not? He's been waiting this long...

Might even be a good surprise when you get home!

Either that or I'm just lucky as h*ll to have an awesomely wonderful woman who lets me go pretty much whenever I want to go... and doesn't use my trips as ammo to spend more $$...

Might be as easy as she wants a vacation from you to. For some reason they seem to need a break from us. Has to do with being able to lite them candles that they get from their girlfriends at Christmas. I can't stand the smell myself. Enjoy the time away.

I dont have these problems guys. I tell the wife I am going fishing... and she replies not to come back without fish. Its that simple.

I fish, she stays home and does her thing with the kid and scrapbooks.. works for me I guess. Summertime she joins in on the fishing quite often.. she is just a fair weather fisherperson, and respects that I like to fish.

Do I have the only woman left out there that respects interest of those other than theirselves?

Nope, Dave I too have a wife that understands the importance of fishing. I just got done with a three day trip and now I'm going with Hanson to Red and LOTW for another four days.

Could be worse things we are doing. Like sitting on a bar stool instead of a five gallon bucket. Right?

I guess we are lucky! grin.gif

I guess I would consider myself lucky as well. I usually don't ask permission I just ask her if she has any plans grin.gif I take her out every once in a while(when theres room) or we occasionally go just the 2 of us (on the boat). If it's a weekend adventure she will usually go dancing with her girlfriends ( I love it because I hate to dance then she don't bother me.) Or if it's a weekday she will just sit home and play video games.( I got her addicted to online first person shooter games) She waited inline with me to pickup our XBOX 360 systems(2) at midnight, and took the next day off so she could play. She bought herself an HDTV and a 5.1 surround sound system. Hmmm maybe I should marry her before someone else offers.

Nope, the Lil Mrs here is the same way. I don't gripe when she goes shopping and she does not gripe when I go hunting/fishing. In the summer we fish together as much as we can but in the winter I am on my own. Have a good one and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

After I was married about 2 years I asked my wife why she was always so agreeable when I wanted to take a few days and even some weeks during the year to go fishing when some of my buddys seem to have to go through major negotiations to get a loose for a couple of days. She replied; "You are my husband not my captive." We are going on 33 years now and I still take off whenever I want to and she seems happy as ever and so am I.

Sounds like you have a good one. My Financial Director is that way all the time. She has on occassion kicked me out of the house to get me to go fishing or hunting. grin.gif Just remember one thing, don't forget this! She won't! I don't mean that in a bad way but if she wants something, be reasonable.

I also am very lucky that my wife loves to eat fish. She is as disapointed as me when I come home skunked. frown.gif Of course that is a rare event wink.gif. She will usually ask when I am going again. grin.gif About the only time she might give me a little dump is if I have gone more than 4 days in a row. Pretty cool lady. Now if I could only convince her that I really need a 4 wheeler.. smirk.gif

Tomorrow's the big day! I was at Fleet Farm Tuesday night to pick up some more necessary fishing supplies, including a new panfish reel. The checkout lady told me her husband is only allowed three. Poor guy! frown.gif I'm sure I've packed too much stuff and will find out what I forgot when we get there. As I tell my fishing companions whenever we head out "We've got everything but the fish!" I'm hoping the crappie bite will turn on this weekend. I'll post a report in the URL forum Sunday night when we get back.
