Ice Fishing Pet Peeve's

Last year a buddy and I were on a lake and hitting the crappies, but it was an extremely finicky bite. Spring bobber, eurolarve, 2lb test, and #14 dry fly hook. Anyways, these 2 moron's drive right up nice and close and set up. I started getting interference on my vexilar from whatever locator he was using. After about 15 minutes and no fish they moved. I made a couple comments out loud, so I think they got the hint. I don't know how many garbage bags full of junk people leave out on the ice.

Leave it better than you found it!

If people would relax and use common sense when they're on the ice most of these pet peeves would take care of themselves, but then again that's a fantasy world and we all know the truth. Pick up garbage, respect the neighbors on the ice and share the beer. That's my best advice.

This has been a fun thread to read, but unfortunately we're preaching to the choir, most of the people who post on here are sportsmen who enjoy the outdoors, respect others, and respect the game they are persueing(?spellcheck). But if we are lucky some of those (insert adjective of choice here)will read these posts and actually change the way they act or what they do. We can only hope smile.gif

Well me being new to this I may be one of those coming close to see what is going on. I don't drink but I will sure brings some beer to cool the waters.

Any suggestions on a all around brand that will be sure to win points???

I live about a Mile away from Medicine so I would guess thats where I will do most of my fishing.

All in All i think it Comes down to respect. Not only for others but for yourself.

1. People setting up to close to you. Especially when you are using electronics.

2. garbage on the Ice.

3. ATVers, Snowmobilers, and even people in Cars and trucks. either driving to close to you. or even over your Tip ups. or out on the lake near by doing Dounuts.

4. people that like to share their music with you. If I can hear it, so can the fish. Use head phones or turn the volume down.

Well I believe most folks on this forum are over in central part of the U.S. and Canada. And we have all of those same kinda problems here in the northeastern part of the U.S.. But I would have to say my absolute biggest peeve would have to be the lack of law enforcement. We dump all kind of money into the state and local economy and yet we're left to fend for ourselves. The ice is definately ( for the most part )

cowboy country ! We can hope for common sense to prevail, but unfortunely it just doesn't seem to be that "common" anymore. All a person can do it would seem is try your darnedist to be a good steward of our waterways and pratice those patience we fishermen are known for, .... really, really practice.

I have to agree about the trash subject, but I am starting to acquire a new pet peeve; the constant pi$$ing contests about Jiffy/Strikemaster comparisons and Marcum/Vexilar comparisons here. Either one in either case is going to make someone without them a better fisherman. We don't need to continually re-affirm our purchasing decisions here. If you are new here and looking for info on which unit to buy, prepare to see mini wars raged endlessly and needlessly. Good Luck! McGurk
