with ice fishing right around the conner grin.gif. Has anyone done a comparsion between the blue and white tazer lights? The blue ones seems to be more popular, but which one does a better job and last longer with the glow jigs. seems to me white would be better.

thanks

You know what is really good, any Luxeon LED light. 1 watt Luxeon emited LED usually 10x brighter than a regualr LED. It will make your glow jig glow brighter and longer than any Tazer. Trust me there is a big difference I discovered it last year.

With some of the new pigments being used by some companies today often times it takes a bit longer to charge some products. For example when you hear some talk about a jig that glowed for 6-8 hours that jig was painted with a closed cell pigment that absorbs and holds the light for longer periods of time. This jig has also been subjected to a high intensity light for a longer period of time.

When on the lake I personally use the Custom Jigs and Spins Nuclear Flash Micro Charger with the blue LED bulb. When using this item you can do different things. Some people think you have to just charge up the entire product. Sure you can do that but next time you are out take the Nuclear Flash and place it very close to your product. When you have it where you want a charge to be push the button. You can then put charged up patterns on your lures. Stripes, dots, just charge the head or the tail..etc.

Yah, camera flashes are the way to go. You can pick an older one up at a camera store for anywhere from $15 to $35. As Northlander said, I then took some cardboard, lined it with aluminum foil, or that metallic tape, formed it around the flasher, and attached it. Then you just drop your jig/spoon in, I like to cover it with my hand, and give it a flash. The foil reflects that flash around in there so much that no glow light can compete with it. Best I've found so far! JH

I've sold both the white and the blue LED lights and when I did an unofficial "test" I couldn't really tell any difference between the 2. Both jigs I charged held their glow for virtually the same amount of time. Because of that, I just sold off the whites and kept the blues in both the squeeze and switch styles because they are more popular with the ice fishers. Besides at $1 each, they are much cheaper than a camera flash.

Bring on the ice!!!

You should check out the NEW Blazer Clipon lights from Nature Vision/Aqua-Vu. They are a White Led lure charger that clips on-to virtually any rod handle. No more fumbling for your light lanyard. Now your light is always at your finger tips.

G&G

You talked about getting a older camara from a camara shot for 15-30 bucks but I found if you go to a one hour photo place you can get a used disposable camara that works with no film for free cause all they do is throw them away after they take the film out. I just get a new one every year and it will last the whole year!

A lot of options for tazers. Custom Jigs and Spins makes a nice one called the Nuclear Flash...

nuclear_flash.gif

It comes in three different options for bulb color... white, blue, or purple ultra violet.

And like jpz mentioned, Nature Vision's Blazer Clip-on is another excellent option. I got a chance to take a look at one of these the other day and they should be a hot item for this winter. Another great concept from Nature Vision!

And then there's the JR's Tackle Flashlight that is equipped with 8 bulbs that offers both glow charging as well as light source for tying knots and working in the dark.

Several options to choose from for tazer/charging lights...

hsolist is another resource for finding camera flashers. I picked up 3 for $1 apiece, plus shipping. Watch the shipping costs carefully though, as some sellers will try to "cushion" the price on the shipping side.

J.R.'s has some new led lights this year including a super bright "Finger Light" It has one led and can be attached to your rod or your finger or just about anything it is only 1 1/2" long, small and compact easy operation and "BRIGHT". Also they have a new 9 LED light that is brighter than the 8 Led with some improvements on the switch. They also have some lights that do not need batteries and are relatively bright. Yep no batteries needed they have a crank style that has 3 led bulbs (you can also charge 5 kinds of cell phones) and a squeeze style with 2 led bulbs. Great for emergency. I used one during a recent storm here in the cities and worked very well. They also have a 9 led headlamp 3 aaa batts with adjustable beams 3 ,6 or 9 bulbs on. These lights are available now at Fishing Tackle Outlet. Thorne's, Joe's, Capra's, Sportsmans Warehouse and other stores throughout MN should have them in stock after Thanksgiving!

The purple glow takes a "hotter" light to charge well than many of these tazers offer, so I have been using the camera flash for the last couple years. The only tazer colors that I have used is the white and the blue.

But on mention of handy lights, JRs does have a nifty headlamp with multiple led's that offers three power settings and is slick. These little lamps operate on three aaa batteries and they last forever. I haven't tried this light on glow products yet.

  • we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators

I used to use a camera flash. It worked great still does.

As an FYI though, with the new longer lasting glo paints today it actually helps to hold the light on it for a longer charge and longer lasting glow than a camera flash gives you.
