What's your most favorite fishing item that you have along with you on the ice in your portable or permanant house that has nothing to do with catching fish? ... Mine would have to be my PS2 or a texas hold'em tournament game that hooks up to our tv... Whats your?!?!

Case of Mich Golden Light, Tylenol for the morning....Ipod, grill, TV, Magazines, Boardgames. soon to have a generator...bigger TV, PS2, Dish. I could keep going, but that's fine for now. I'm still debating the bose system for the fish house, OK. Maybe not.

My cousin has a "fish call". It's a whistle shaped like a fish. When fishing is deadly slow he always brings it out and gives it a big blow. Funny, someone always, sometimes, or never, catches a fish after that. We think it's just funny and he won't leave home without it.

i have a buddy who doesn't leave home without his fish whistle either. But I think his fish whistle is a little different... It makes his eyes red and squinty.

As for me the most useless thing i bring would have to be bait tongue.gif.

actually just a little battery operated radio to listen to the vikes and 93x. unless im north of st cloud then its on the powerloon.

When fishing in less than 12 or so feet of water, I'd have to go with my fishing reel. Prefer to hand line em if it's not too deep. I've developed a habit of using a bobber stop as a "float." With a light ice fly, the surface tension is just enough to hold up the line if I set it down gently. You can't get any more sensitive than that, and I can get back down to the exact depth in an instant but still jig if I want to. The only problem is that reeling them in the stop sometimes catches on an iced line guide. Solution: I don't use the reel if I don't have to. Maybe I just need to get a quality reel that is actually useful.

My 4 year old daughter who loves to go "ice fishing" with dad. "ice fishing" to her means a day of snow angels, snowballs, touching minnows, going potty in a buckt, and alot of giggling, but nothing to do with fishing. Love every minute she is there with me, fish or no fish!!!
