Gophers vs. Purdue, Go Boilers!!!!

lots of luck

I am not sure about the Gophers running all over the Purdue defense, I think the Gophers weakness, besides its pre-season schedule, is at QB with Cupito(sp?). If the QB is off, then Purdue might be able to key on the stud running back.

Can't wait to watch it all play out!!

Lots of,

I agree that Cupito is the question mark but remember they played Michigan, Alabama and Iowa last year. All three were top 10 rushing defenses last year and the Gophers averaged 267 yds against them. I am not predicting Gopher victory as the game is very tough but the running game is not the concern. IMO

Marooney has killed the Boilermakers all day and now Cupito does what he always does.... kills the Gophers with his third interception tossed on the day, this one on crunch time down 1 point and it goes back for a TD the other way! Can he lead a comeback????

WOW!! What a game!! I still can't believe how it ended! I had the Gophers done when they were down by 8 points late in the 4th qtr. ESPN picked a great game to televise nationally! I sure am glad that a Perdue fan started this thread... grin.gif

Purdue came into the game with the No. 1-ranked rushing defense in the nation after yielding just 16 yards a game to Akron and Arizona.

The Boilermakers found out quickly that they were facing a much more difficult task against Minnesota's top-ranked rushing offense, which churned out 301 yards.

"It was a great defense we went against," Maroney said. "Everybody was like, 'Can we run the ball against them?' We just proved that we can and we're feeling good right now."

Maroney ran for 96 yards in the first quarter alone and 147 yards in the first half as Minnesota's superb offensive line opened huge holes and manhandled Purdue's experienced defensive front.

"The run came at them very, very fast," Purdue defensive coordinator Brock Spack said. "It took us a while to get used to that speed. They run the football better than any team I've seen in a long time."

the gophers are looking good, but there defense has held them back. but a good game by the defense toady. they played great today, and that offense shows the nation, we are the best. this should be a good year, with the best offense and a defense that is gaining confidence. we should crack the top 25, if that matters.

GO GOPHERS!!!

Wow, what a game, my team came up short in the end, but my wife and I got to see one heck of a game!!

Gophs:

-Phenominal running attack, Purdue could not gets defense off the field in the first half, wore them down

-Cupito, tried his best to give it away, but was a stud on that 2-point conversion on the QB keeper

-Spaeth, tight end, is a stud

Purdue:

-Option football? When did we decide to give up on "basketball on grass"

-Vaunted defense, could not figure out Maroney left, Maroney right, Maroney up the middle

-Brandon Kirsch, couln't do the little things that Brees or Orton may have been able to do, like a shuffle pass

It was always "make one more play", that didn't happen.

The results were a double overtime game with a lot of drama.

I will say that the Metrodome has to be about the most embarrasing venue to play a college football game. Between the announced crowd of 48,000 (more likely 40,000) and the P.A. system pumping at rediculous levels, it is rather sad. I was interesting talking to Gopher alumni and Purdue faithful and getting the same vibe from them also. The sounds of a college football game should be generated by the roar of the crowd and the Gopher band. I must of heard the intro to welcome to the jungle no less than 6-8 times. The Gopher crowd was estatic and did not need coaching from the P.A. system. Something is obviouslly wrong when people are placing their fingers in the ears.

Get that stadium built, this school and program is well deserving!!

Buzzsaw I remember that play specifically, that play was coming right at us in the end zone. The cannon went off prematurly, it wasn't even close, we all had a chuckle.

Yeah, #11, can you say slightly overrated. Those poles have had many big ten teams as pre-season favorites this season. the poles themselves are kind of a wacky bit.

Purdue has Notre Dame next week, I am scared to even watch.

I heard that Maroney said he is only going to sign with the Vikings next year grin.gif

Aighty well maybe that wont happen but I would take him over any of our running backs right now.

And the thing is he is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. I have seen him a bunch of times at the U and everyone else around says that he is a very nice guy.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
