I watched a Viking game............

Down to Earth

As far as running plays are concerned, we are as bland as the nfl has. Draw up the middle, hb off tackle, etc, never a counter, sweep, toss, nothing...

This is what MB needs, no draws up the middle..

We will be fine in a few weeks, mark it...

I think Culpepper is the best player the Vikes have. They are wasting him as QB. A large percentage of NFL players are college QB's playing another position. Get him the ball via the tight end position and you will have ten plus yards every time. I have not been joking about this the last two seasons as you think I have.

Are you saying that they should make one of the games top QB's into a TE? If thats what I understand then we are all dumber for having to read the most ridiculous statement ever made. I know he treated the football this past weekend much like Favre did last January in his playoff game against Minnesota... but that is not the norm and only a bafoon who doesn't know anything would say or think differntly... thats like saying ladainian Tomlinson shouldn't be a RB, he should be a D-back. Get real!!

So you think the Vikes are a better team with Daunte at TE and Brad Johnson as the QB than Daunte at QB and Jermaine Wiggins who caught 70ish passes last year? Wow....did you hit your head yesterday? grin.gif

I agree Daunte is a good enough athlete to play a few different positions but why try to be one of the best TE's when you are already one of the best QB's. I remember the only reason Rich Gannon came to the Vikes was that NE wanted to make him a running back. I am pretty sure he would have had a fairly short career and never have won a MVP if he had.

Dante did have one of his worst games ever, but he is not the problem. He will be great this year, I guarantee it.

The thing that bothers me the most about this team and we have seen it for the last few years. Where were the adjustments that should have been made to get the offense going? Change your blocking scheme. Figure their coverage out. Something! That game was a classic example of the Vikings being outcoached, I think. These guys are NFL coaches, they should be able to figure out how to give Dante a little time back there. They should be able to figure out a way to get Tampa's front seven blocked so we can have SOME success running the ball.

I'm not one to usually call out coaching, but it was obvious we had no answer for anything their defense was doing. They would disguise their coverages and Dante would check off to different plays. Pretty much we fell right into every trap Tampa's D set for us.

Also, in football, at any level, you HAVE to be able to move the ball on the ground, that's just the way it goes. When we can't do a thing running the ball, it's easy for their defense to take chances, run stunts, etc. Therefore forcing turnovers.

Oh, and by the way, moving Dante to TE is probably the stupidest thing I've ever heard. However, calling some planned running plays for him might not be a bad idea, especially when we can't get anything else going on the ground.

I just do not think he is all that good of a QB.

Tale of two QB's

PCT YDS TD INT RTNG TOTYDS TOTTDS

64.4 18595 129 79 93.2 20927 157

61.9 18724 147 79 89.0 19657 156

I would say these stats are pretty comparable. The top one is Daunte after 6 seasons and the second is Farve after 6 seasons. We all know what you think of Farve. So I don't quite get why you think Daunte is a bad QB. I know there are intangibles that aren't on the stat sheet but you can't tell me a guy who put up one of the greatest statistical seasons ever last year and went on the road to the great Lambeau to win in the playoffs is not a good QB.

I watched both the Vikes and the Pack n Sunday and I saw 2 horribly coached teams, undisciplined, they couldn't adjust to anything. this falls squarely on the coaches not getting there squads ready for the opener, now the question is which team is gonna turn it around, I think we all know the honest answer....

If d c is so good ( which I think he is) you do not make him a TE The idea in any sport is to have your best player handle the football or the puck or the ball every play. Not every 3 plays.. Got to be an award for stupid thoughts... You know I think they call it the Moss ratio and you saw how that worked out...

I guess that proves stat's do not win championships.

You are right. I believe I may have partially addressed that but that was not your statement. Your statement was Daunte is not a good quarterback. Does that mean Marino was not good? Was Elway a nobody his first 10 years? Does Manning suck? I don't get it. If you want to consider championships as part of someone's greatness that is fine but lets stick to your original statement. If Daunte is a poor quarterback then Marino must have been also because I believe Daunte broke a couple of Marino's records for a season last year. Oh yeah, Manning broke another of his. None of these three have a ring but Trent Dilfer does. Dilfer should be included in the same conversation?

I think, in part, it only emphasizes the old cliche "defense wins championships" and a decent running game surely helps. The Packers if I recal had a pretty good defense the two years they went to the Super Bowl, with 96 being better than 97. It has been shown you can win the Super Bowl with a good QB (see Dilfer). If the Vikings would ever put togeter a defense they probably would have broke through here during the past 5 years or so. Unfortunately this year their defense is somewhat improved, but they have no running game. They'll be good enough probably to win the division, but won't go far in the playoffs again going to either Atlanta or Philly.

Get rid of Tice,

I checked on the espn's coach approval ratings and I believe 83% of the fans think Tice is doing a terrible job. I mean 50% is whatever, but 83% is way to big of a percentage to just not pay attention too.

When has he actually made a good decision, he definitely doesn't know how to do the Replays.

Daunte as a TE ?? That would be giving him to much credit.

This guy is a DOLT!!

Physical specimen with a brain the size of pea.

I read all your stats and all your praise but, stats and praise don't win games. Brains do !!

Someone once said "Statistics are like loose women, you can do what you want with them" So spare me the "Stats"

Daunte IS the problem, and he's not gonna get any smarter.

This team will go 0-5 before you all figure it out.

DC looked pretty good today. Daunte is the leader on offense (Birk too) Didnt know you had to be geinus to play QB. For being a DOLT, he almost won the MVP last year. He has got to be the best QB in the NFC, maybe in the league, although Peyton is right there.
