hanson
What seams to be working best for me right now is... -Respooling my rods -Double checking the condition of my ice shacks, making repairs as required -Organizing my tackle -Practicing remote control with my VS560 -Looking at lake maps -Entering GPS coords into the handheld -Making multiple lists of tackle to restock up on -Checking the calendar for available fishing weekends -Praying for winter! Tyler Holm
Hanson,I hear ya cluckin. I haven’t respooled my rods yet, but I find myself moving all my ice fishing stuff from one side of my garage to the other, then back (for no particular reason). Then I walk around it and open my boxes to see how the supplies are holding out. I've been known to hold a tackle box up to the light and then shut off all the lights and see how much my ice fishing gear glows. Sometimes I sort each compartment accordingly. Earlier today I had the VS560 out and reread the manual hoping for some more pointers. I might get it wet this weekend just for something to do. The Grebe
Whats working for me now, pre-icefishing, is an open face ultra light for pannies, a level wind with a star drag for Muskies and a medium action rod for whatever else is out there! But I did finally get my back up auger back yesterday.

hawkeye43
Got the plywood down on the floor of a new frame for a 8x12 shack. Now I going to work on the skis for under the wheels, I think this going to work better than I think.
wallydiver
Tyler's post really cracked me up. My 4 year old is always asking to go out in the garage so we can "move some more stuff around". I wonder who he learned that from.
Dan Thiem
What worked for me tonight was sitting in the permanent with the radio on and a few pork chops in a cans. It's definatley getting closer. Won't be too long now!
WalleyeStriker
I woke up one morning with my icefishing rod in my hand, and my snow boots on..... Do you find that wierd?!
Captain B.R.K
Define "won't be to long".... I still have goose, duck, and pheasants to shoot and plenty of trips out to the land for deer hunting before I can even think about ice-fishing. Though I did pull out the fish trap last time I was down at the 'rents place to see if any of my 4 legged friends got at my tarp again. FOOLED em' again this year! Felt bad for em' sittin' there without any use so I dusted it and the auger off a bit
zebco4040
I seriously have problems... The Voyager has been in my garage for 3 months already... Still need to work on the 4 man house, but I find myself sitting in the voyager wondering if I could drill through the garage floor and put a little water in there with some fish! Northlander
Went threw some of mr rods and reels and changed out line. Set Otter up and cleaned it out. I even bought a new baitcaster to go on my new Midwest Rod. Cant wait to get that baby on the ice. I then ran my Nilsmaster for a bit. Started second pull. ivegottabite
I've been getting out the magazines from last winter. Paged thru the In-Fisherman Ice special many times already. Got out the Ice Team DVD as well. Getting ready to respool the reels and look all the rods over as well. Also making a list of what I "need" for this coming season. Playing around with my LX-3, just got it this summer and haven't put it to use yet. Man if there was only some ice to get out on and fish! I figured MJ would have chimed in by now , I know for sure he's had to have been doing some pre-ice planning
Matt Johnson
My ice fishing season is 12 months long No need to plan for "pre-season" I've actually been getting things organized for a few seminars and events for this upcoming fall and winter. The IceLeaders/ICE Series will soon be set, and the first year of the Ultimate Panfish League will begin in December, so I've been finalizing everything for that as well. The ice fishing gear is already out and it's located back at its rightful place I've done a few more modifications on my portables as well. Once all the ice fishing gear starts showing up on the sales floors then I'll also be browsing the stores. All we need is a little ice and life is good Good Fishin, Matt Johnson
