Well its official.. KVD Just goes to show, when conditions get tough. Its boys from the midwest that know how to adapt... Congrats to our new Champion!.. Kevin VanDam...

I must say, I have the honor of meeting KVD about 10 years ago... Wish I could remember the year, he actually spoke at our Midwest sport show when he was a rookie on the BASS tour. I got to talk to him after his seminar, and he was just one of the greatest people to talk to, a person that we want to represent our sport!

Thats #2 for him.. how many more?

Wow, That's some tough fishing! I thought they were catching Crappies with all those 12-13"ers.

Very inspiring piece they did on Clay Dyer. He is the man!!

yeah, bunch of little dinks. Kind of like watching a 2-1 baseball game.

You just had to feel bad for Aaron though, always coming in second and this time only by 7oz frown.gif

I can"t believe no one caught a fish over 3 lbs. That river system was suposed to have fish up to 5 lbs. and Hackny suposadly was on 2-4 lb. largemouth in practice and he Zeroed both days. Must have been tough conditions if 45 of the best anglers can't catch a fish over 3 lbs. in 3 days.

Tough bite for sure, can't imagine how frustrating a weekend that musta been for the guys who only managed a couple keepers and lots of 11". O wait, maybe I can, I do that sometimes too crazy.gif I am glad KVD won, but I felt bad for the feeling Aaron musta felt when he found out he was 7oz shy and any of the 4 keepers he lost, including a last second lb plus fish, would have won him the tournament. I'm just glad Iaconelli didn't win, egotistical squirt! See him trying to make his sales pitch at the weigh in. Ugghh.

I watched a little and it was pretty boring watching guys land 10-12 inch fish. I hope they find a lake or river system with some bigger fish next time. I think the best fisherman rose to the top of the leaderboard.

Wasn't Iaconelli leading last year at some point. I think he promoted his Yamaha which then broke down the next day. Then he fished a no fishing area and was penalized or something.

I saw 2 classless things (IMHO) on the final day weigh-in. Iaconelli pushing his products and the Emcee asking George Cochran about his run-ins with Jim Bitter earlier this year. That isn't the time to put him on the spot regarding a personal fued.

When it was his turn on stage, he starting talking about his book and cd, that they have lots of information in them and go out and buy them now, etc. It was a shameless plug. I am a fan of his, but that was a turnoff.

Sort of sad that my results from a couple hours of fishing Friday afternoon beat everyones first two day totals at the Bassmaster Classic. And two of my fish (4.3 & 3.2) would have taken the top two largest bass of the entire tourney. Jeez, nice location for an event of that size and notoriety. Although it was funny watching a guy get pumped up over a 13" fish. grin.gif

I'm just glad loudmouth pimpboy didn't take home the trophy and cake.

I jokingly asked Mr. Never caught a largemouth before last Thursday(Nick), if he saw any of the BM Classic. And to my suprise he said "Yea, and my bass crushed everyone in that tourney!!" shocked.gif Uh Oh, I think I created a monster. Once again, nice fish Nick.

I for one can't stand Ike, sure he get's excited and loves what he is doing and is passionate and all. But Maybe show a little class, after catching that 14" bass instead of screaming into the camera, put it in the box and keep fishing. A couple of buddies of mine that don't fish watched a little of it and saw the clips of him screaming and yelling after catching fish and stated what a complete jacka55 they think he is.

Kinda turns me off a bit I guess. Kinda like some of the stupid atheletes that do cartwheels and make phone calls after scoring a touchdown.

Ike is Ike. If you knew you were in the hunt and a 13" fish was one of your nicer fish of the day wouldn't you give out a yip? I would...

To me this Classic really showed who were the best fisherman in BASS. To be able to find keeper fish in that river system was tough. I also found it exciting not knowing who was gonna take it because they were bunched that close. Next year you probably will have a blow away winner and that takes the fun out of it and I believe also makes some anglers fish different.

I guess it's not any worse than pimping Ranger, Triton Mercury or Booyah Buzzbaits. Yeah it may have not been the perfect setting to bring it up but the guy sells and brings people to the sport. At Wissota he was one of the most popular fisherman there. Love em or hate em he's a good hook. Your looking at the new Nascar get used to the pimp fest. Its only going to get worse.

That WAS a pretty cool shot, and considering he had 0 fish before that shot, I wonder if any of his three came outta there. I also like the fact that he didn't win after GUARANTEEING a win the previous day. Also when he started hootin and screaming when he caught his first, only to realize it was short. I like that he is energized about fishing and all, but he is the cockiest, loudest little brat, and I think some of his rods are beefier than he is. The fact that he considers himself the future of bass fishing is the reason I truly don't like him. Yes, we need more younger people getting excited about the sport and all, but yeck, I'm a young city bred fisherman, and all I see him doing is alienating a lot of 'good old boy' type fisherman, and face it, fishing can attract a lot of different kind of people, but it's never going to be run by the city boys. It's a good old boy sport, and it'll stay way in the majority. For all you Nascar fans(I am not one) it's like having the Garnier Fructis car in the midst of the competition.

Hey Guys,

CAN'T STAND IKE EITHER!!!!

However, his for-runner--- Roland Martin---who spells his name with all capital I's. Could back up all he said. IKE has a little more to prove before he acts like he does.

To use another sports analagy. I was a big Marcus Allen fan. When he scored a TD, he acted like he had been in the end zone before, and more importantly, like he planned on being there again. Take a lesson Ike. Oh, I always wondered why Marcus kept the ball. I always hoped that he UPS'ed them to his former boss in Oakland on Monday.
