Fishyguy,

Trust me, I would be very happy to see a playoff series. Sure a World Series would be great, but I'm not spoiled like you guys....seeing the playoffs for 4 years in a row. I've only seen 3 playoffs in my life for gosh sakes.

Windy, good luck. I'll tell you where the muskies are, if you're interested. Grab a couple muskie candies and throw in the cabbage. Wishbone, little wishbone.......or any of the bars......Girls camp, strawberry, deadmans, cedar, or buck.

By the way....I shot a 78 yesterday at Itasca CC. 42 on the front with 2 doubles, and a 36 on the back, with a bogey on the last hole. It was the UIC outing......team best ball.....we shot 71......the par 3's killed us. On 2 of the par 3's, all of us bogied. Winning team shot 70. We should have won.

Heard from Nevadafisherman Tim that he chipped in on 17 to win $65 out in Vegas - nice to win money any way you can in Vegas.

Windy is enjoying the great northwoods, so in his defense I will say that the Sox played the Sox pretty even this series. Don't look like any collapse is gonna happen.

Now, CNYTim, I know we were only playing your minor league team, but you did have the major league guys pitching so how is it that we were only a Pitch-out away from sweeping you guys this weekend? Thank God for Lee and Ramirez.....AND Neifi too.

gene- Congratulations on winning the series this weekend over my Cards. I think were taking some pages from your injury play book but what concerns me most is Pujols sloulder, he just looked like he was fighting with it in each at bat.

Julian Tavares maybe working his way out of a job he's has been less than sharp as of late and if he did his job like he used to we should have had a 3-2 win but I give credit to Ramirez for that blast, he went down in the well and sweeped it out of the ball park, strong fellow there. Suppan really pitched well and after the first inning Prior was locked in. It doesn't get any better than that Cubs and Cards and close games. The Cards are on the road now first San Diego and then Los Angeles hopefully they can figure things out away from home. With the cards being banged up for a while this division I believe is not a lock and the team that really scares me is the Astros, there smoking!

Never have thought much of Tavares and that Pujols injury is certainly a big concern for the Cards. Yeah, I don't know how strong you have to be to pull a low (outside???) curveball over the LF wall, but I sure was glad to see Ramirez do it - what timing.

You are right that the Astros are locking in their radar and could make it a race after all. (I hate Ensbeg, but I think I hated Berkman even more). Glad to see the Braves catch the Nats. I couldn't bear to see the Nats win before my Cubbies do . Lots of interesting races still going on to keep my interest peaked for awhile. I don't know who to root against though - Padres, Dodgers, or Dbacks, but for now if they are playing the Cards, I gotta root for them.

Gene - The Cardinals ship is taking on Triple AAA water. LOL

I see that Walker is on the DL now too., that makes it 4 down and the 4 we have left Eckstein, Gruzielanek, Pujhols and Edmonds slightly banged up. I don't know if the day off is gonna help Albert or Jimmy but we made a call down to the farm and brought in John Gall, .280, mostly singles and doubles but the key is he can play 1st base and Left Field. Hopefully J Rods ankle is ok to play tonight he's been a welcome addition with the stick from that trade last fall for Womack. Patiently treading water till September. Mets are interested in Wainright at AAA I guess one of the Mets scouts was there and left after he finished pitching. Glavine and Cairo for Wainwright and Tavares is one of the rumours I'm hearing. Also heard a little birdie chirping something about Griffey Jr. but that concerns me because of his lack of durability. I think the Central will be a great race down the stretch.

Gene - Congrats to Maddux on his 3,000 strikeout. Another accolade for the future hall of famer.

John Gall looked impressive filling in for Larry Walker last night, 2-4 double and scored twice. Pujhols hit his 27th dinger and a not very sharp Mark Mulder had to throw 110 pitches to get through 5 2/3rds innings. Thanks to 3 double plays he got the job done. We got our work cut out for us against Peavy tonight.

Tim,

One of the best pitchers of our era for sure. And with lots of support while in Atlanta winning all those divisions certainly will help get him to the Hall with the wins and K's he has racked up. What coulda/woulda been if he never left Chitown? A great decision on his part.

A loss puts us down again and 4 out in the WCard race. Houston remains hot/lucky???? Starting to look like I'll be rooting for a Cards/ChiSox series. Could be some pretty good baseball, although the ChiSox are STILL boring to watch for me. It must be Harrelson doing the announcing that I can't take, or maybe just my NSide jealousy raising its ugly head.

The Chi-Sox announcer puts you to sleep but I do give him credit for his signature call although they couldn't put it on the board last night.

ESPN 2 has the Cards and Padres on tonight and I'll watch the Yanks and Twins prior to the Cards 10:10 p.m. start

There are some fans around here who think the Tigers have a better chance than the Twins do.

That's Funny.....Really?

Quote:

I say they both have 3 chances - slim, fat, and none.

Detroit has one chance and it's the same as the last 20 years....ZERO....

The Twins have a slight chance but more then likely can't hold up to the Yankees or Red Sox.

Gene,

If the Twinks can't get consistent with the bats they don't have a great chance to hold off the Yankees, Red Sox or A's. Last count I saw was even if they make up 4 games on the Twinks the Tigers would also have to jump 6 other teams to snag the Wild Card. They better get real hot, real fast if they are going to make a run.

MnWild,

We have been here as much as anyone else but with the standings getting pretty stagnant along with the Twinks recent play there has not been a ton to discuss. A little trade talk here and there. Having the old Windbag out of town is also allowing the pot to settle since it does not get its daily stirring. Did you have anything to contribute yourself or just wanted to question our status?

I was just wondering, with Hunter being out now the chances are very slim of making the wildcard unless Ford comes through in a huge way. I was really dissapointed that they didnt do anything trading wise. I would of loved to see Soriano added to the line-up but he is making too much money. Its going to be interesting, the 2nd weekend in Sept I will be wearing my Twins hat out in White Sox territory for the weekend, I am sure I will get pleanty of abuse but its all fun, well I hope

Its all fun thou. I am going to Schaumburg on Friday, we are going to get tickets to that place called Midieval Times, saw that place in the movie Cable Guy, I am looking forward to that. Then Saturday staying on Rush St at the 4 point's Sheraton hitting the bars and maybe catching the Sox against L.(Contact US Regarding This Word)

Been to Medieval Times once about 10 yrs ago. It is something different for sure. Be sure to call your waitress "wench" as in "Wench, bring me another drink".

Downtown bars are a thing of my long lost past. Used to hit Rush Street 20 years ago. Can't help you with any "hotspots", but I'm sure the area of Rush & Division is still hoppin'.

For my next prediction, I will take it easy on the Twinks as the Pale Hose have a rough stretch for the next 6 weeks. I will say that the Sox will be up by at least 16 games on or before the end of August.

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES!

Rundrave,

You better check the facts dude. Were the Sox not up by 16 games on or before the end of August. If not 16 then it was 15.5 my friend (I also predicted their rough stretch and it has come and gone now). Next prediction...if the Sox are up by at least 5 games by the end of August, they will run away with the division and the Twinks will finish in 3rd place at least 5 games behind the Injuns!

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES!
