I caught a jumbo perch while fishing a weed bed and decided to keep for dinner later that night. I put it on the stringer and continued to slow troll around the bed. As I looked down I kept seeing this shadow pass by the boat and wonder what the heck. Just then a big pike came up and ripped my dinner off the stringer, splashed water in my face and the force of the stringer being ripped almost tipped over the boat (Small 14ft aluminum). My fishing partner looked over at me in shock and said, "Were going to need a bigger boat." I have heard of Pike biting fish on a stringer but never thought they would just rip one like that. Has anyone else ever had that experience?

I was fishing walleye on a SD Lake with three fish on the stringer; my buddy said we had five!? Come to realize that two fish came up from the shallow water and schooled up with the other three on the stringer. Soon as we both moved to take another look and make sure it wasn’t the heat messing with us the two bolted off. I also caught one of my biggest muskies from a story being told at the landing. Two sunny fisherman were talking about a big fish that was following behind there stringer of sunnies. So I b-lined for there spot with a bluegill colored jerk bait and presto instant trophy.

Was reeling in a nice Crappie on Pokegama last Sat. and it was on the surface about 8 feet from the boat and a big old pike slammed into my bobber and cut my line.

Have had pike hit fish I was reeling in, but never off the stringer, snappers yes. Had some Otters relieve us of our fish one time also...easy pickins when they are strung to the dock and can't get away!

I was fishing from a dock at a resort on Pelican Lake in Orr last summer and caught a nice sunny. Just as I raised the sunny from the water a fairly large pike jumped out of the water, grabed the sunny, and broke off my line. He landed a bit on shore and wiggled once and was back into the lake. I couldn't help laughing at what happened and the 4 or 5 kids on the dock started screeming.

My brother was fishing in Canada a few years back, and while he was ready to grab a Wally over the side of the boat a 42" musky grabbed the wally and took off, the wally stayed hooked on my bro's line and the musky would not let go. After a bit of a battle my brothers buddy hand landed the beast. They have pictures of both fish, the chewed up walleye, and the musky. Pretty Wild

ive had a Northern hit my spinner bait and get hooked while the lure was 3 feet out of the water while i was eating a sandwich. Had a northern follow a spinnerbait and land in the boat out of the same lake. It would be somethin if they had any size to em.

This may be kind off weird but i was fishing for walleyes/northerns on lake Alexander with a Jig and Shinner and i had about a 3-4 lb northern on. I got the fish close to the boat and it feel off. When i looked at the hook it had about a 3 inch perch on it. The northern most of had the perch in his mouth and I ended up catching that.

I also caught a artic cat snowmobil belt in 40 foot of water on Cass Lake.

I had a muskie jump out of the water and grab a bucktail that was hanging over the side of the boat when I was getting out some food. I just barely grabbed the butt of the rod before it went overboard. I landed a 34" muskie after I figured out what was going on. A very memorable fish! Two weeks later we were in almost that same exact spot and two of us were casting bucktails and all of a sudden something hit our boat so hard we both fell into our seats. We were in 14 feet of water with no stumps or anything. I looked over the boat fast enough to see a low 30" muskie, stunned, but then it swam away. My best guess is that is was following the shadow and didn't even think about the boat. I love fall fishing for muskie!!

I was walleye fishing on Spirt Lake (IOWA) and caught a small walleye as I reeled it up a small muskie (30")came up pretty hot to get the walleye. He would not give up I called my wife and daughter over to watch we kept the muskie next to the boat for over a minute. I would pull the walleye out of the water to keep the muskie off and he would just wait for it to come back. It was very fun my daughter thought it was a great show.

I've had that same thing happen to me. It scared the h--l out of us. I even went out the next day and bought a perch lure that was about the same size as the one that I lost. Every one laughed at it, until I had a strike on it. I still haven't caught any thing on it but I'm now getting into musky and big pike fishing. grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

When I was a kid I was fishing with my dad on Rock lake in Wright county. We had caught a few fish including a couple of walleye, northerns, etc. They were hanging off the side of the boat on a stringer. Being a kid I was bored so I pulled up the stinger to look at it. I then noticed that the two walleye's that were the furthest down the stringer were gone, except for thier heads! I pulled it up into the boat and was just telling my dad what I had seen when the biggest snapping turtle I've ever seen came floating up next to the boat like a submarine. My dad uttered a few explatives and attempted to smack the big turtle with one of the wooden oars in the boat. He just submerged and then popped up about 20 ft away to look at us again. I'll never forget it!
